Open-air ice rinks in St. Petersburg: where to skate in winter 2025-2026
St. Petersburg in winter is a special kind of pleasure. Yes, sometimes the weather is capricious, but the city's guests get festive illumination that turns everything around into a Christmas fairy tale setting. But there's an even brighter way to experience it – ice skating outdoors. If you're planning a winter weekend and have already bought tickets to St. Petersburg, be sure to set aside an evening for pirouettes on the ice. It's the best way to warm up and feel the city's rhythm.
We've compiled a guide to the city's main ice rinks: from romantic views of the Gulf of Finland to skating among vintage steam locomotives.

Ice Rink by the Sea (Sevkabel Port)
The city's most photogenic and romantic ice rink. Sevkabel Port has long been a place of power for lovers of bohemian St. Petersburg, but in winter it transforms especially, precisely thanks to the Ice Rink by the Sea.
The main feature here is the panoramic view. The ice track is laid right along the embankment of the Gulf of Finland. You glide on the ice, and to your left are the leaden Baltic waves (or ice hummocks, if the winter is harsh) and the majestic ZSD Cable-stayed Bridge, shining with lights. An atmosphere of industrial romance reigns here: brick walls of an old factory, garlands of incandescent bulbs, and an excellent music selection – from funk to modern electronic music.
- Ice: artificial, with a cooling system, so the rink operates even at positive temperatures (up to +10°C)
- Area: 2,200 sq.m.
- Capacity: 280 people
- Opening hours: 11:00 – 22:30
- Infrastructure: there is a rental pavilion, lockers, skating assistants for children ("seals" and "bears"). Skate sharpening service is available, the process takes 10 minutes, cost – 300 ₽

Tip: the best time to visit is at sunset or late in the evening, when the lights come on around. We recommend buying tickets online 2-3 days in advance, as it's often sold out on weekends.

Ice Rink in New Holland
It is considered the most stylish and cozy in the city, and at the same time the most popular. There's no rush here, and speeding is not common; people enjoy the moment.
The ice field is located in front of the stage, near the historic Kuznya building. If you're looking for a place to take beautiful photos and feel like a character from a Christmas movie, this is it. The musical accompaniment here is chosen with special care – no "pop" noise, only jazz, classical, or quality indie-pop.
- Ice: artificial, of the highest quality. It is flooded and cleaned every hour (a session lasts an hour, then a break for flooding).
- Area: over 2,000 sq.m.
- Opening hours: 10:00 – 21:30
- Infrastructure: outdoor fire pits with live flames are placed on the territory, with chairs around them. Sitting by the fire in skates, warming your hands, and watching the falling snow is a special pleasure. On Friday and weekend evenings, themed sessions are held (e.g., Silent Disco with headphones).

Ice Rink on Yelagin Island (Kirov Central Park of Culture and Recreation)
Yelagin Island is a palace and park ensemble, and the ice rink here matches its surroundings: it is majestic and elegant. In the 2025-2026 season, it has been chosen as a partner for Winter Fest – an all-Russian winter ice festival by Ilya Averbukh, so there will be weekly master classes, DJ sets, and an ice show with figure skating stars. And that is definitely worth seeing.
The ice rink is set up in the Grand Square of the park. In the center of the ice, a huge, luxurious Christmas tree is installed, from which garlands radiate in all directions, creating a starry sky above the skaters' heads. Perhaps the most unusual location in our selection. The ice rink is located near Baltiysky railway station, on the territory of one of the country's best technical museums. You skate on the ice, and around you stand giant black steam locomotives, historical carriages, and diesel locomotives, illuminated by spotlights. This is real steampunk in reality!
