Spring in Europe: Where to go on a budget

The weather outside has cleared up. We’re starting to stir after a long hibernation and choose where to go for a spring vacation this year.

We suggest starting with a strong hand and a few transfers (we really hope this ends soon) and heading straight to Europe. Besides, there are still places there where you can go on a budget. Let’s go!

Sofia, Bulgaria

The capital of Bulgaria deserves a visit at least for its national cuisine. Gyuvech, sarmi, and minced meat soups are the foundation of this country. Tourists usually quickly walk around the city center to see the main historical monuments, such as the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.

Then you can move on to see numerous monasteries and ancient fortresses. And a special pleasure is simply contemplating nature. For this, you can go to the Pirin or Rila National Parks.

Bucharest, Romania

Of course, after the fame of the film “Nosferatu,” you absolutely must fly to Romania. The filming didn’t take place here, but you should visit Transylvania, the mythical homeland of Count Dracula, at least once in your life. In general, Romania is famous for its architecture: Gothic castles and majestic cathedrals are everywhere. Personally, our must-visit is the Transfăgărășan Highway. Be sure to bring a friend with a driver’s license and extensive driving experience to drive along the most beautiful high-mountain highway in the world. We’ve included a photo, of course!

Budapest, Hungary

Budapest is one of the options where you can find the best party districts in Europe for a few days. If parties don’t appeal to you, no problem — you can always relax in the famous Budapest baths or even head to the surroundings. For example, relax on the shores of Lake Hévíz and Lake Balaton or visit the Museum of Applied Arts in Budapest. We give a special heart to Visegrád Castle. Simply incredible beauty!

Istanbul, Turkey

Yes, we cheated a little, as most of Istanbul is in Europe. Otherwise, no modesty — you can have a great time in Istanbul in spring. Just before your trip, familiarize yourself with the entry rules for Turkey, so you can enjoy a stress-free vacation.

In general, strolling through the city, admiring the Bosphorus, the Blue Mosque, or Dolmabahçe Palace, is already a great pleasure. But if you want something extra, visit the Grand Bazaar. You won’t find such an abundance of color and local flavor anywhere else.
