Airport luggage storage is one of the best services invented for passengers. Today we will tell you how you can use it.

The most obvious method is to leave your belongings there, for example, excess hand luggage, during a layover and calmly walk around the airport or even
go into the city for a few hours to take a stroll or
take a tour.
However, the full potential benefit of luggage storage is revealed when you travel to several cities. For example, today you are in Milan for 4 days, tomorrow you fly to Rome for 2 days, then to Florence for another 2, and return to Milan, where you will stay for one more day.
How many things do you need for 9 days? At least one suitcase, especially if you're a girl :)
And by how many kilograms will your suitcase increase after great shopping in Milan?
Do you want to drag this heavy suitcase, or even two, around Rome and Florence? Most likely not, especially if you get to your hotel by public transport and not by taxi.

Think about how many things you need for 2 days? Obviously much less than for 9. So why not leave extra items in the airport luggage storage?
Had a successful shopping trip in Milan, but not planning to wear your new purchases yet? You still need to show them at customs to
get tax-free back – leave them in luggage storage when flying to Rome, and pick them up on your way back.
Each airport has its own rules and maximum storage period for items. Somewhere it's 3 days, somewhere 9 days, or even 90, for example, like at
Heathrow Airport in London. If you have a short trip, this is a great option to get rid of unnecessary items.
How to find luggage storage?
While it's simple in Russian airports, abroad, especially if you don't know the language, you might encounter difficulties.
Your task is to find signs for
"Luggage storage" or "Baggage Storage". In some airports, you might also see "Left Luggage", which can be a bit confusing, as the literal translation of the phrase is - left baggage.
How much does luggage storage cost?
There is no definitive or even approximate answer to this question. It all depends on the airport.
In the table below, we have provided the cost of luggage storage at some airports.
| City |
1st day |
Subsequent days |
| London |
10 фунтов |
5 фунтов |
| Munich |
€4.8 |
€3.8 |
| Sydney |
$15 |
$15 |
| Hong Kong |
$140 |
$140 |
| Milan |
€4 |
€4 |
As you can see, leaving luggage at Hong Kong Airport is not the best idea, but if the cost is 4-5 euros, as in many European airports, then why not.
