Where to relax in Vietnam
While everyone else is choosing tickets to Thailand or looking for what to see in Goa, we recommend paying attention to Vietnam. The quality of life here is not inferior to the previous destinations, but the prices are noticeably lower. In short, not only you, but also your wallet will go on vacation.
Moreover, the white sandy beaches surprise even the most fastidious, and the fabulous landscapes look amazing in photos. Travel experiences are maximized, and even after their vacation, tourists want to return immediately. Let's explore Vietnam together!

How to get there
Until teleportation is invented, the only way to get to Hanoi is by plane. Unfortunately, there are no direct flights. However, there are a couple with a layover in Dubai, Istanbul, or a more popular option — Delhi. On average, the price ranges from 30,000 to 50,000 rubles.
To catch the best deals on tickets, we recommend checking neighboring dates. The number of zeros on the price tag is unlikely to decrease, but the flight might be shorter and more convenient for you.
Or you might find a good ticket from Irkutsk to Hanoi without transfers and for only 30,000 rubles. We think this is quite an attractive offer.
Visa
You'll probably be surprised when we say that Vietnam is a top option for a beach holiday where you can go to the sea without a visa. It sounds quite appealing, as Russians can spend a full 45 days there, enjoying neon lights and endless beaches. And for those who want to extend their vacation, an e-visa for up to 90 days can be obtained on the official website.
Weather
Most often, tourists fly to Vietnam's resorts for a seaside holiday from December to April — this is considered the high season. At that time, on Phu Quoc island, located in the southern part of Vietnam, there is practically no rain, and the weather is good. As for conquering Central Vietnam (Nha Trang and Da Nang), it's best from May to August — this is the ideal time for a beach holiday. There are practically no waves, but there is one drawback: the heat is unbearable (+30 degrees Celsius). How good it is that the water at this time is cool and allows you to refresh yourself. If abnormally warm temperatures are not your thing, you should go to Nha Trang in September.
Resorts and cities of Vietnam
You can have a pleasant time in Vietnam in various ways: explore the underwater world of the South China Sea, go shopping in malls, or simply get acquainted with Asian culture.
There are many options, and everyone will find something for themselves here. A great chance to see for yourself is to go on a small trip through cities and resorts, relying on the locations from our selection. Pros: free and informative. Cons: you'll want to visit the country even more. Or is that still a pro?

Nha Trang
For all first-time tourists choosing where to go in Vietnam, we recommend Nha Trang. If you've never been here, we sincerely envy you. It is the most popular resort among all listed. Affordable prices and inspiring landscapes are no less impressive than what you see in photos. Yes, there are many people. However, rest assured, this will definitely not spoil your impression of the thrilling attractions, delicious food, and turquoise waves.
Phu Quoc
Phu Quoc is more suitable for lovers of peace and quiet. There's no nightlife here — noisy clubs and crowds of tourists won't disturb your relaxation. However, the infrastructure is well-developed: many activities (the most popular being diving and snorkeling) and great beaches. By the way, about the beaches. If a child is flying with you on vacation, be sure to visit Bai Sao and Ong Lang. The entry into the sea there is gentle, and there are practically no waves. In short, it's perfect for a family holiday.
Da Nang
Da Nang is not popular among Russians and Europeans; mostly Vietnamese people vacation there. However, this is not a drawback, but rather an advantage. There are few tourists, but the infrastructure is developed and there are many attractions (for example, the famous "Golden Bridge" or "Hands of God" bridge, which you have probably seen on social media).

Ha Long
The title of Vietnam's most picturesque place rightfully belongs to Ha Long Bay. It is located in the northeastern part of the island and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. This is all thanks to three thousand small islands that rise directly above the water. Among them are grottoes and caves. For those who like to let loose, cruises are even offered. For romantics, we recommend climbing Bai Tho Mountain: an impressive panorama opens up from there, and the sunsets are incredibly beautiful.
Ho Chi Minh City
An option for travelers who were inspired by Thailand or simply don't know where else to go in Bangkok. People purposefully go to Ho Chi Minh City to immerse themselves in the bustling atmosphere with neon lights, Asian exoticism, and a fast pace of life. It's very easy to get lost among the tall skyscrapers, but incredibly easy to fall in love with the city. A small life hack: there are many attractions — from pagodas located right in the city center to underground tunnels.
Sapa (Sa Pa)
The small town of Sapa in northwestern Vietnam can be called a true attraction. The locals are friendly, happy to show you the way or simply tell you about local customs. However, what makes the place unique is not only the people but also the rice fields stretching for hundreds of kilometers around. The air smells fresh, and everything around looks like a picture with maximum saturation. You will definitely want to return here for the atmosphere of comfort and tranquility.

Con Dao
There are no nightclubs or noisy parties on Con Dao. Nor are there crowds of tourists. But there are marine animals (such as green turtles and dugongs) and clear water. And for anyone wishing to get acquainted with underwater inhabitants, underwater excursions or snorkeling are offered.
Hanoi
The capital of Vietnam needs no introduction. There are simply no beaches in Hanoi, so you won't be able to get a tan and bask in the sun. But you will be able to shop excellently, be inspired by the sights, and experience the local flavor. Secretly, it's best to start your gastronomic tour from here: there are many restaurants, and the food is finger-licking good!
Cam Ranh
Cam Ranh is often chosen as an intermediate point between Da Lat and Nha Trang. Which is very strange, because in terms of holiday quality, the bay is in no way inferior to its neighbors. Bai Dai is considered a famous beach, offering beautiful views and crystal-clear water. However, the location is famous for more than just this. Nearby there are many cafes and restaurants where you can taste delicious lobsters, and you can also ride a motorbike along picturesque roads. Other activities include water skiing and a walk through Nui Chua National Park, which shimmers with all shades of green.
Da Lat
Da Lat is a city with its own romance and French vibe. Small houses, fresh air, and the opportunity to stroll through quiet streets attract travelers. Visitors often go on mountain excursions, motorbike tours, or try their hand at rafting and canyoning. There's always something to do there; all that's missing is you!

Money
In Vietnam, payments are made in Vietnamese Dong (VND). As of September 2023, 1 Russian ruble is equal to 244 Vietnamese Dong.
Good news for "Mir" cardholders: it is accepted by two banks (BIDV and VRB). However, don't rush to rejoice, because you can't do without cash here. Although the purchase fees are small, they are very unpleasant, at 3–5%. Therefore, upon arrival, feel free to exchange your money for paper currency. However, we recommend sorting this out at the airport: rubles are not accepted everywhere.
It's the same story with dollars and euros; it's better to exchange them. Secretly, you can do this at jewelry stores — the exchange rate there will be more favorable.
Accommodation
The best helpers in choosing cool accommodation in Vietnam will be Ostrovok.ru, Airbnb, or Booking. In case you can't decide or don't know which option is better, here are our recommendations.
- Hanoi By Night Hotel. Literally two steps from the South China Sea coast. Located in the heart of Nha Trang: surrounded by restaurants, beautiful views, and modern design. In short, a top option.
- Angsana Lang Co. An ideal solution for a VIP holiday. Cozy rooms, a turquoise swimming pool, all right opposite the sea in Lang Co (a small village near Da Nang).
- Furama Resort Danang. Ranked among the top ten hotels in Da Nang according to Tripadvisor. They offer a spa, fitness, and even breakfast in bed. In short, a real fairy tale. And the photos you get there…
- Lan Homestay. Budget apartments for those who want to get closer to Vietnam's nature. The houses are located right in the jungle, among the mountains and tall trees of one of Ha Long's largest islands — Cat Ba. Minimum tourists and maximum tranquility.
- Bamboo Village. The rooms here are spacious, making them ideal for a family holiday. In addition to the spa, the hotel staff offers various excursions and trips to lakes, and for lovers of something extreme — kitesurfing. The hotel is located in one of Vietnam's resort towns — Mui Ne.
What to try in Vietnam
Vietnam is not only the best place to go on holiday, but also a great chance to arrange a gastronomic tour for yourself. Moreover, the prices for national dishes here are low (even in tourist areas). In a word, it would be a sin not to try them.
- Pho. In short, it's a noodle soup. One of the most popular items on the menu of Vietnamese restaurants. It's made with pho noodles, cilantro, lime, and chicken or beef (your choice).
- Banh Xeo. Translates as "sizzling cake," but visually it looks more like a pancake. Shrimp, beans, and egg are fried and wrapped in rice paper to be served with a spicy sauce.
- Goi cuon. You've probably tried goi cuon in Asian restaurants or seen it in photos. It's a delicacy with a filling of shrimp or meat with spices and vegetables, wrapped in rice paper.
- Banh Mi. In simple terms — a Vietnamese sandwich. Well, it's all simple here: baguette, meat, and lots of spices.
- Com Hen. A very common dish in the vicinity of Da Nang. It consists of rice with ground clams, vegetables, chips, and peanuts. All of this is seasoned with a delicious sauce and served to your table with love.
What you need to know when traveling to Vietnam for the first time
- A curfew is in effect in Vietnam. Therefore, if you plan to stay out late, remember that after 11:00 PM, all establishments (except some bars and clubs) close.
- Do not drink tap water. Such water is not even suitable for cooking. Buy bottled water or get a filter.
- Watch your belongings. Petty theft is very common, so keep your most important items with you.
- Beware of mosquitoes — they can carry fever. It's best to buy repellent. During nighttime, insects are very active and can even transmit fever.
- It's very noisy here, so be prepared for loud sounds.
- Cross the road carefully. Although there are pedestrian crossings here, it practically means nothing. The country has its own driving rules, which may seem like a complete lack of rules to Russian tourists.
- Always wash your hands before eating. There's no need to even explain here — these are basic hygiene rules.
- Don't neglect street food. After all, it's part of the local culture.
Best time to travel
No matter where you choose to relax in Vietnam, your trip will be rich and interesting regardless of the time of year. Although rains are not an obstacle (they don't last long and aren't very heavy), there's a popular opinion among tourists regarding travel plans:
- it's best to visit Hue, Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Hoi An (Central Vietnam) from February to August (this is the low rain season; high season is from October to December);
- a holiday in Southern Vietnam (Phan Thiet, Mui Ne, Tuy Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Hon Tre Island, Phu Quoc Island) is most pleasant from November to April (lovers of rain and humidity can come there from May to October);
- Northern Vietnam (Do Son, Ha Long Bay, Hanoi, Hai Phong) is primarily visited from May to October.
Before tickets sell out and prime spots on the beaches are taken, get to know Vietnam in a comfortable setting. We wish you pleasant travels and the most beautiful photos!
