Features and Advantages
The main advantage of Issyk-Kul Airport is its strategic location. It is situated just a few kilometres from the northern shore of the lake, making it the ideal arrival point for holidaymakers. This saves tourists from the long transfer from Bishkek, allowing them to reach the beaches and resorts much faster. The airport has one runway with a length of 3,800 metres, capable of accommodating aircraft such as the Airbus A320, Boeing 737, and Tu-154. Although the terminal is small, it offers basic amenities for passengers, including shops and cafes. During the tourist season, which typically lasts from June to September, the airport handles international and domestic flights, connecting the Issyk-Kul region with cities in Kyrgyzstan, as well as Russia and Uzbekistan.
