Helsingborg Central Station (Helsingborg C), also widely known as Knutpunkten, is not merely a station but the heart of the city's transport system and one of Sweden's busiest transit hubs. The uniqueness of this location lies in the fact that a railway station, a bus terminal, and a ferry port for ships travelling between Sweden and Denmark are all united under one roof. The modern building, integrated with a shopping centre, offers travellers a high level of comfort and excellent logistics.

It is important for passengers to note that navigation within the complex is arranged by levels. Railway platforms are located on the underground level, which can be reached via escalators or lifts from the main hall. The bus terminal is located on the ground floor, while the exits to the ferries are on the upper floors. Keep an eye on the electronic display boards: trains may depart in the northern (towards Gothenburg) or southern (towards Malmö and Copenhagen) directions.

Where to Eat

Thanks to the station being integrated into a shopping complex, the choice of food here is vast. You will find many options to suit every taste and budget without leaving the building.

For a quick snack on the go, kiosks like Pressbyrån or 7-Eleven (hot snacks, coffee, light bites) are perfect. If you need a substantial meal, popular fast-food chains (McDonald’s, Burger King) and cosy coffee shops (such as Espresso House) operate on the premises. The average cost for lunch is around 100–120 SEK. Many establishments open early in the morning to serve the first passengers.

Station History

The history of railway communication in this location is inextricably linked to the development of connections between Sweden and Denmark. The modern complex, known as Knutpunkten, was inaugurated in 1991.

Prior to this, there were two separate stations in the city, which created inconvenience. The construction of the new central hub was a massive infrastructure project that included boring a railway tunnel through the city centre. This allowed trains, buses, and ferries to be combined into a single logistics hub, which today stands as one of the symbols of modern Helsingborg.

Passenger Tips

Tickets: The most convenient and fastest way to purchase tickets is via the Skånetrafiken mobile app. The ticket must be activated before boarding the train or bus.

Transfers: If you are transferring from a train to a ferry bound for Helsingør (Denmark), simply take the escalator up to the upper level of the terminal. The entire journey takes no more than 5–7 minutes.

Safety and Luggage: The station is secure, but please keep an eye on your belongings during peak hours. Do not leave luggage unattended. If you have an overnight wait, please note that during the technical break (usually from 01:30 to 04:30), the building may be closed for entry unless there are arriving trains.
