Since Burke Lakefront Airport (BKL) is oriented primarily towards business and private aviation, the range of services here differs significantly from standard commercial terminals. There are no huge duty-free zones or food courts, but conditions are created for maximum privacy, speed, and comfort for VIP passengers.
Dining and Shops
There are no customary chain restaurants or coffee shops in the terminal. Passengers and crew have access to:
- Vending Machines: Located in the public zone, offering beverages and light snacks.
- Catering: For private flights, an in-flight meal ordering service (Gourmet In-flight Catering) is available, organised by the ground handling operator.
- Shops: Retail trade is not represented at the airport. The nearest shops and fine dining restaurants are just a 5-minute drive away in downtown Cleveland.
Lounges and VIP Halls
The atmosphere of the airport itself resembles an exclusive club. The main operator Signature Aviation offers premium service:
- Comfortable lounge zones with soft sofas and satellite television.
- Rest areas for pilots with quiet rooms ("snooze rooms").
- Complimentary coffee, tea, fresh press, and soft drinks in the FBO waiting area.
Wi-Fi and Charging Stations
Free high-speed Wi-Fi is provided throughout the terminal and in FBO lounges. Sockets and USB ports for charging gadgets are conveniently located next to armchairs in rest zones and the business centre, allowing you to stay connected at all times.
Banks and Currency Exchange
There are no currency exchange points or full-service bank branches in the airport building. It is recommended to carry US dollars in cash or bank cards. An ATM may be available in the main lobby, but for significant financial operations, it is better to use banks in Downtown Cleveland.
Medical Services
There is no specialised medical post for passengers in the terminal, however, the airport is an important hub for medical aviation, so staff are trained to act in emergency situations. First aid kits are available with employees. In case of serious health issues, an ambulance will deliver the patient to leading city clinics (such as the Cleveland Clinic) in mere minutes.
Services for Passengers with Children
Due to the specifics of business flights (rapid boarding and disembarking), playrooms or mother-and-child rooms are not provided at the airport. Nevertheless, spacious waiting halls allow families to settle comfortably, and staff are always ready to help with warming up baby food.
Services for Passengers with Reduced Mobility
The terminal fully complies with American accessibility standards (ADA):
- Single-level layout minimises the need to use lifts.
- Entrances and exits are equipped with automatic doors and ramps.
- Restrooms are adapted for citizens with limited mobility.
- Staff provide assistance with boarding and disembarking from the aircraft (prior request required).
Hotels at or near the Airport
There is no hotel on the BKL territory, but thanks to the location in the city centre, Cleveland's best hotels are within walking distance or a couple of minutes by taxi:
- DoubleTree by Hilton Cleveland Downtown, Lakeside — the nearest hotel, located practically across the road.
- Hilton Cleveland Downtown — a modern hotel with a lake view, connected to the Huntington Convention Center.
- The Westin Cleveland Downtown — located a few blocks away, popular among business travellers.
- Drury Plaza Hotel Cleveland Downtown — an excellent option in a historic building with a high level of service.
Conference Rooms and Business Centres
For those who value time, the airport offers excellent opportunities for work:
- Equipped conference rooms in the FBO zone, which can be rented for negotiations immediately after arrival.
- Business centre with computers, printers, and fax.
- The main terminal hall is often used as a venue for major corporate events and presentations thanks to its large area and views of the runway.
