The basis for such a refund is the death of a passenger or a close relative of a passenger. According to the Air Code of the Russian Federation, close relatives and family members include spouses, parents and children (adoptive parents and adopted children), grandparents and grandchildren, full and half-siblings.

To request a refund, you must provide:

  • death certificate;

  • documents confirming kinship (birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce certificate β€” depending on the relationship and passengers' surnames).

For Russian airlines, if the supporting document was not obtained in Russia, the passenger must provide a notarized translation of all documents into Russian.

Original supporting documents must be scanned or photographed, with a separate color scan for each page.

Please note: if the carrier is foreign, the conditions may differ from those stated. For example, a certified translation into English or another language may be required. It should also be noted that not every country's legislation recognizes the concept of an "involuntary refund," and therefore such a request may be denied.

Important nuance: airlines usually consider an involuntary refund provided that the passenger notified them of the situation and canceled their seats before check-in closed.

To process everything correctly, contact us β€” we will take your request and remove you from the flight. If there is little time left before check-in closes, in addition to contacting us, we recommend contacting the airline directly.
