Please note that at the first stage of ticket booking, you can only select a few fares — full, child without a seat, child with a seat, and school. Other fares are applied automatically at the next step.

Child Fare

Child without a seat

On long-distance trains, children under five years old can travel for free, but only when accompanied by an adult. In this case, the child does not occupy a separate seat. Despite free travel, a ticket is still issued.

Under these conditions, one passenger can take only one child without hand luggage.

Child

If a child aged 0 to 10 years will occupy a separate seat, a ticket with hand luggage is issued for them in accordance with the child fare, which includes a discount from the adult fare for travel within Russia, the CIS, and the Baltics.

In "Lux" class carriages, free travel is possible for one child under five years old and one child under ten years old, regardless of the number of adults (except for carriages of the High-Speed Communication Directorate "DOSS").

The child's age is determined on the day the trip begins.

What to present:

— Original birth certificate or its notarized copy.

School Fare

Schoolchildren and students of educational institutions aged ten years and older can travel within Russia with a 50% discount in general, open-plan, seating carriages, and in double-decker passenger carriages with 4-berth compartments on long-distance trains of all categories.

The discount is valid from January 1 to May 31 and from September 1 to December 31.

Restrictions

There is no discounted travel on high-speed and express trains numbered 701-788.

What to present

— A certificate from a full-time student. It must be presented only when boarding the train. The certificate must include: the student's full name, details and legal address of the school, number and date. The certificate must be certified with the school's seal and the signature of the head of the educational institution or their deputy.

Round-trip Fare

On Sapsan trains, you can book round-trip tickets within a single order and receive a 20% discount on return tickets. The fare is available if the following conditions are met:

— adjacent seats are selected for passengers,

— both outbound and return tickets are chosen from the same railway carrier.

Ticket return features for this fare

If you purchased tickets at the Round-trip fare, you can only return them in one of the following combinations:

• outbound and return simultaneously,

• return first, then outbound,

• return only.

Non-refundable Fare

With the non-refundable fare, you can get a 20% discount:

• from the carrier DOSS on Lastochka (on certain routes, carriages, classes) in seating carriages;

• on Sapsan (on the SPB-Moscow-SPB route), class 1P;

• on the last four-berth compartment of compartment carriages of "FPK" trains, traveling within the Russian Federation. The fare is available if tickets are booked 5 days or less before the train's departure date, inclusive.

This fare does not provide for the refund of the travel cost when returning an unused ticket. Only the cost of services (animal transport, extra baggage, insurance, additional meals) and linen can be refunded, with a return fee withheld. If the amount to be refunded is less than the fee, no refund will be made.

Ticket return features for this fare

The travel cost may be refunded:

— in case of cancellation or delay of train departure or failure to provide the passenger with the seat indicated on the ticket;
— for objective health-related reasons:

• sudden illness of the passenger or a family member traveling with them;

• death of a family member;

• injury to the passenger as a result of an accident.

In such situations, the reason must be confirmed by relevant documents on the train's departure date. The refund of the travel cost is then carried out only at the boarding station's ticket office no later than 5 days after the train's departure.

What to present:

• printed electronic ticket or ticket number;

• original document used to purchase the ticket (passport, birth certificate, etc.);

• document confirming the reason for the return;

• refund application (can be written on site).

When refunding the travel cost for a non-refundable ticket, a stamp must be placed on the ticket:

• In case of train cancellation or delay — at the RZD ticket office;

• In case of failure to provide the passenger with the seat indicated on the ticket — by the train conductor.

Compartment Buyout Discounts

If you buy out an entire compartment on FPK long-distance trains for specific travel dates, you can receive a discount:

— 10% if you purchase tickets during the start of sales or six days before the departure date, inclusive.

— 20% if you purchase tickets five days or less before the departure date.

Refunds are only processed when all tickets are returned simultaneously.

Birthday Discount

If it's your birthday and you are traveling within Russia, you can purchase tickets with a 10% discount for any class carriage on any FPK JSC train departing a week before or after your birthday, as well as on the birthday itself.

The discount applies to the birthday person and no more than 3 people traveling with them. Tickets must be purchased in a single order for one carriage.

However, if you are traveling in a "Lux" class carriage, in SV class 1E carriages, and in seating carriages 1B, the discount applies to the birthday person and only one other person.

Sapsan Discounts

For Russian citizens traveling on Sapsan, there are two discounts of up to 30%:

— Special fare for youth. Applied automatically for passengers aged 10 to 21, including their 21st birthday at the time of travel.

— Special fare for pensioners. Applied automatically for passengers over 60 years old.

Special fares cannot be combined with a travel/electronic card.
