What is electronic/online check-in and how can I check in?
Check-in is a mandatory procedure for processing passengers and baggage before a flight.
During check-in, the passenger receives a boarding pass indicating the seat and row in the aircraft cabin, as well as tags for checked baggage and hand luggage.
You can check in for a flight in several ways:
Online check-in
— by adding the Online Check-in service to your booking
In this case, within 24 hours before departure, you will receive a boarding pass with your seats on the plane via email. You must print it out and take it with you to the airport.
If you are flying with baggage, you must also check it in at the airport no later than 40-60 minutes before departure, depending on the airline's requirements.
— independently online on the airline's website, if it supports this option
It usually starts 24 hours before departure and ends 3-4 hours prior. This type of check-in allows you to confirm your presence on the flight in advance and choose a seat on board the aircraft.
Check-in is considered complete when you receive your boarding pass. It is advisable to print it out in advance.
At the airport, you will only need to check in your baggage at the counter (either at the same one where other passengers on the flight check in, or at an adjacent counter with a “Baggage Drop-off” sign). If you are flying with hand luggage only, you can proceed directly to security, passport control (for international flights), and boarding with your printed boarding pass.
Standard check-in
— at the airport at the check-in counter
Check-in for a flight starts 2-3 hours and ends 60-30 minutes before departure. Before your trip, clarify the exact start and end times for check-in with your airline.
The counter number where you can check in and drop off baggage is indicated on the departure board in the airport hall.
— at the airport independently at a special self-service kiosk, if the airline supports this option.
