How to buy a cheap ticket for the holidays
Thoughts about where to go for New Year's start as early as September. Some even buy tickets on Kupi.com then (madmen or geniuses?). But if you've only just decided on your plans, it's too early to shout: "All is lost!" Not everything is lost, and cheap tickets can still be found. And we'll tell you how to do it. Since the advice "buy in advance" doesn't apply here, let's consider other ways to save.
Don't be picky
When time is running out, you can't be choosy. Spontaneous savings on tickets are possible for those who don't care where they fly. After all, finding cheap tickets for a specific destination is harder, especially a few weeks before the trip.

Change your departure city
This advice is more for residents of St. Petersburg and Moscow: they can fly from the Baltics or Finland, as many European low-cost carriers fly from there. From Tallinn to Germany for 1,000 rubles? Easy! From Helsinki to Prague for 2,000 rubles? No problem. But even here, you need to be reasonable. If the price difference for tickets from a neighboring city is only 2-3 thousand rubles, which you'll spend on a train or bus to get there, then it's not worth it.
Change your arrival city
The same as above, but in the other direction. Sometimes a ticket to your desired city is more expensive, so look for a flight to a neighboring city. For example, flying to Eindhoven is cheaper than to Amsterdam, and the transfer will take you one to two hours. This advice is more suitable for Europe, as the distance between cities and even countries is small. Even with a bus or train, it often turns out cheaper, and you get to see another city. This also applies to your return flight. You don't necessarily have to fly back from where you arrived. From neighboring cities, again, it might be significantly cheaper.

Catch a last-minute deal
This advice is for those who won't be upset if they don't fly anywhere. They usually wait until the last minute: what if a cheap ticket remains the day before departure? After all, some airlines drastically drop prices in the final days to fill the plane. But this doesn't always happen and not for popular destinations. If you don't care whether you fly or not, try your luck. And if it doesn't work out, you can just go back to salads and sledding in the nearby park.
