How to fly to Cyprus in 2025

First of all, let’s figure out where to fly to Cyprus. Because, although it’s one island, the answer to the question ‘Which country is Cyprus?’ is not so simple. In the southern part, where Limassol, Paphos, and Larnaca are located, is the Republic of Cyprus. The north is occupied by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, although this state is not recognized by anyone in the world (except Turkey, respectively). But if you visit Northern Cyprus and get a stamp in your passport, then the Southern part may refuse you a visa in the future.
Do you need a visa for Cyprus?
By the way, about the visa. Many travelers need one to travel to Cyprus. Entry is also permitted with a Schengen visa from any country or a national visa from Bulgaria, Croatia, and Romania.
Cyprus issues various types of short-stay visas — tourist, visitor, business, student, work, etc. If you just want to relax on the country’s beaches, a tourist visa will suit you. The visa fee will be 90 €.
Documents for Cyprus Visa Application
- a foreign passport valid for at least three months after the end of the trip;
- a copy of the main page of the foreign passport;
- application form, filled out in English;
- medical insurance covering expenses of at least 30,000€;
- a color photograph 3×4 cm;
- paid consular fee;
- ticket reservation (or tickets themselves) for both directions;
- proof of accommodation, for example, hotel booking, rental agreement, or tour agency voucher;
- proof of financial means: bank statements, a statement from the Pension Fund with a digital signature, or a sponsorship letter;
- depending on the applicant’s occupation — a letter from the employer, an extract from the tax register, a certificate from an educational institution, or other documents confirming the applicant’s ties to their country of residence, for example, property ownership rights.

How to fly to Cyprus
As you can see, there’s an interesting nuance: to fly to Cyprus, you need a visa, and to get it, you need to provide tickets or their reservation. This is where Kupi.com’s smart routes come in handy.
You can fly to Cyprus with one or two transfers. There are two airports in the southern part of the island — in Larnaca and Paphos. The famous resort Ayia Napa is closer to the first, and tickets to Larnaca, as a rule, are cheaper. Among the budget options are flights with transfers in Yerevan, Tbilisi, Batumi. Tickets with transfers in Dubai or Cairo will be more expensive. In the best-case scenario, you will reach Cyprus in less than 8 hours. Flying to Paphos is a bit longer — 9–10 hours via Yerevan, but if you have time, you can make a long stop and manage to see the city itself.

If your foreign passport is about to expire, and you are not afraid of problems with subsequent visits to the Republic of Cyprus, there is always the option to fly to the northern part of the island. You won’t even need a visa here, and tickets will be cheaper. To Ercan Airport with a transfer in Istanbul, you will fly in at least 6.5 hours, in 7.5 — with a connection in Izmir, or in 8 via Antalya. However, you will only be able to travel in the northern part of the island.
How to get to Cyprus by sea
A more exotic way to visit the island is to arrive by ferry: from Greece to the southern part, from Turkey to the northern part.
In the first option you need to get to Piraeus port, which is 10 km from Athens. The one-way ticket price for an adult is from 41.08 €. The journey will take 31 hours, so for more comfort, it’s worth considering cabins. Accommodation in a four-berth cabin will cost 66.08 €.
Ferries from Turkey to Cyprus depart from the cities of Taşucu and Mersin, arriving in Kyrenia, Girne, and Anamur. You will spend much less time at sea: from Anamur to Kyrenia is only 1 hour 45 minutes, from Taşucu to Kyrenia — 2.5 hours, from Mersin to Girne — about 4 hours.
