French Guiana Guiana Space Centre This is the primary spaceport of the European Space Agency. Its convenient location relative to the equator adds an additional 460 m per second to launching rockets. Several launch vehicles ascend into the sky from this spaceport: heavy "Ariane" rockets and light "Vega" rockets. Visiting the Guiana Space Centre with its technical facilities and space museum, and even witnessing a spacecraft launch from a distance of 5 km, is free of charge, by prior arrangement with the administration and subject to availability.
