Safety rules for air travel differ significantly from those for any other mode of transport. What can’t you take on a plane? Today we will look into this question. But first, familiarize yourself with the general baggage rules for air travel.

Explosive and illuminating substances:

  • Gunpowder
  • Cartridges, including for gas and hunting weapons
  • Firecrackers
  • Sparklers!
  • Pyrotechnic devices: signal and illuminating flares, signal cartridges, detonator matches, etc.
  • TNT, dynamite, tol, ammonal, and other explosive substances.
  • Items imitating explosive substances

Flammable substances:

  1. Aerosols, for example, a can of paint. With the exception of hairspray, deodorant, and other aerosols intended for personal care.
  2. All types of fuel (gasoline)
  3. Lighter fluid
  4. Gas burner, all types of household gas
  5. Paint and solvents (acetone)

Chemicals, corrosive and caustic substances:

  1. Chlorine, including for swimming pools
  2. Liquid bleach
  3. Hydrochloric, sulfuric, and nitric acid
  4. Brake fluid
  5. Mercury
  6. Oxidizing substances and organic peroxides
  7. White, yellow, and red phosphorus, potassium, sodium, metallic calcium and their alloys, calcium phosphide.

Radioactive materials: All types of radioactive substances are prohibited on a plane. Weapons*:

  1. Pistols, revolvers, rifles, carbines, and other firearms, gas, pneumatic weapons.
  2. Stun devices
* Weapons are prohibited on board if the aircraft is not equipped with special containers for weapon transportation or the passenger does not have the appropriate permits.

In addition, any other substances, items, and cargo that could be used as a weapon to attack passengers, the aircraft crew, or pose a threat to the aircraft’s flight are prohibited on board the aircraft.
