What to Do

The main adventure here is getting to know the birth process of coffee. You can book a tour of the plantation, where you will be told and shown the entire production cycle in detail: from tree care to roasting the beans. Be sure to check out the local shop to buy their signature chocolate-coated coffee beans, which are made on-site and are considered the establishment's trademark.

For families with children, the plantation offers excellent recreational opportunities. There is a modern, air-conditioned indoor play area featuring carousels, a flying fox, and various slides. While the kids are busy playing, adults can enjoy lunch in the restaurant, whose interior captures the spirit of old North Queensland.

Nature lovers will enjoy the local mini-zoo and aviaries. Bright macaws move freely around the grounds and in the café itself, often posing for photos. You can also meet guinea pigs and other friendly animals, making a visit to the plantation a truly interactive and memorable experience for the whole family.

History & Facts

The story of this amazing place began in the early 1990s when the founders, Peter and Nikki, purchased a sugar cane farm here. Prior to that, the land had been owned by the Ironside and Bishop families for several generations and was always known for its fertility. Initially, Peter even considered opening a rum distillery here, but fate had other plans.

The idea to focus specifically on coffee came to the owners after extensive travels around the world, including the Hawaiian Islands. Peter noticed that the Whitsunday region lies on the same geographical latitude as the famous coffee-growing regions of Hawaii. This was the deciding factor: it became clear that the local climate was perfectly suited for growing high-quality Arabica, which would be an excellent complement to traditional sugar cane.

Over time, the modest farm transformed into a multi-functional tourist complex. Today, about 140,000 coffee trees grow here, and the plantation has become one of the largest in Australia. The infrastructure gradually developed as well, with the addition of a modern café, a licensed restaurant, and entertainment areas for family recreation, turning the agricultural site into a popular regional attraction.

Time Needed

For a quick overview of the grounds and a tasting of freshly roasted coffee at the local café, 1.5–2 hours will be sufficient. This time will allow you to take a break from the road, enjoy the views, and stop by the gift shop for unique souvenirs.

However, for a full immersion into the farm life atmosphere and a detailed look at the journey of a coffee bean from tree to cup, it’s worth setting aside about 2.5–3 hours. This is enough time to take a leisurely stroll through the animal park, watch the macaws, and let the children play to their heart's content at the modern playground.

Working Hours

The plantation and all its main facilities, including the children's play area and the café, are open to visitors daily, including weekends. Guests are welcome seven days a week, making it easy to plan a visit for any day of your trip.

Operating hours are primarily in the first half of the day: doors open at 8:00 AM and close at 3:00 PM. This is the perfect time to stop by for breakfast or a hearty lunch before continuing your journey to the coast.
