Gomel Airport (GME) is the main aerial gateway to the Gomel Region and a vital transport hub in the south-east of Belarus. Having received international status in 1993, today it serves as a departure point for journeys both within the country and abroad. The airport boasts a rich history that began in the mid-20th century, and in its prime, it connected Gomel with dozens of cities. Although today it is a small and compact terminal, it continues to play a key role in the region's transport system and also serves as an alternate airfield for the capital.
