In the very heart of Gomel lies one of the most revered and significant sites in Belarus — the Eternal Flame Memorial. This is not just an architectural structure, but a sacred mass grave that has become the region's main memorial complex. It serves as the final resting place for heroes who gave their lives for the liberation of the region in 1943–1944.

The central element of the composition is the undying flame, which has been burning in a special bowl since 1950. Nearby stands a monumental sculpture of a soldier with a lowered banner, frozen in a guard of honor. The memorial is surrounded by granite slabs where the names of fallen soldiers and underground fighters are carved in gold letters, reminding everyone of the price of peace.
\nThanks to its austere beauty and deep meaning, the complex on Labor Square (Ploshchad Truda) consistently attracts both locals and tourists. It is a place of remarkable silence and dignity, where the modern rhythm of the city pauses for a moment, giving way to memory and sincere respect for history.
