The beach area blends harmoniously with the well-kept embankment, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and natural comfort in the heart of the capital.

This is not just a shoreline, but a full-fledged recreational zone where citizens escape the summer heat. Komsomolskoye Lake is famous for its amenities and proximity to the city's largest parklands, making it a must-visit for any tourist looking for a blend of urban infrastructure and nature.

History & Facts

The history of this picturesque spot began in the spring of 1940. The initiative to create a man-made reservoir came from the editorial office of the "Soviet Belorussia" newspaper and was supported by city authorities. The main goal of the project was to protect Minsk from the destructive spring floods of the Svisloch River. Notably, the 35-hectare basin was dug almost by hand by volunteers and Komsomol members.

Filling the lake with water began in mid-June 1941. The grand opening of the swimming season, complete with orchestras and swimming competitions, was planned for June 22, 1941, but the large-scale celebration had to be postponed due to external historical circumstances of that period.

In the following decades, the reservoir continued to develop. In 1974, specialists carried out a major cleaning and deepening of the bottom. The location acquired its modern look after a large-scale reconstruction in 2010, when the embankment was renovated, Victory Park was expanded, and an impressive fountain was installed right in the lake's waters.

Time Needed

For a simple stroll along the embankment to enjoy the views, one hour might be enough. However, if you are planning a full day of relaxation with swimming or a picnic in the shade of the trees, it is better to allow 2 to 4 hours for your visit.

Many tourists combine their time at the beach with sightseeing in Victory Park; in this case, you can easily spend the whole day here, especially in sunny summer weather.

Working Hours

As a public recreational area, the territory around the lake and the beach itself are accessible 24/7. This allows you to enjoy evening walks by the water under the city lights.

Please note that the swimming season is usually officially open from June to August, when lifeguard services are on duty at the beach. For the most up-to-date information on swimming permits and the operating schedule of park attractions, we recommend checking the official website of the Minsk city services.
