In the heart of Kaunas lies one of the region's most significant cultural institutions — the Vytautas the Great War Museum. This museum is considered one of the oldest in the country and is housed in a majestic building constructed in the interwar modernist style, which has become a hallmark of the architecture for which Lithuania is famous.

It houses an impressive collection of more than 200,000 exhibits. The crown jewel of the collection is the wreckage of the aircraft "Lituanica", in which legendary pilots Steponas Darius and Stasys Girėnas made their famous transatlantic flight in 1933. In addition to aviation relics, visitors can see the evolution of cold steel and firearms, as well as unique archaeological finds.
In front of the museum lies a solemn memorial with an Eternal Flame and the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, while the sounds of a 49-bell carillon located in the building's tower often drift over the city. This place is not just a collection of antiquities, but a true symbol of national pride and historical memory.
