About

The park's defining feature is its eco-friendly approach: not a single tree was felled during construction, and all buildings follow a consistent wooden aesthetic. At the heart of the grounds sits a giant volcano that simulates an eruption, scattering pieces of genuine amber. Here, guests are also greeted by realistic, life-sized dinosaur figures and a famous bear sculpture carved from an 850-year-old oak.

The park immerses visitors in the prehistoric past and tells the story of how Baltic amber was formed through interactive installations. The Amber Pyramid and a tree with "flowing" resin make a stroll through the forest both pleasant and educational, turning a visit into a true journey through time.

History & Facts

The vision for the Amber Period Park in Svetlogorsk came from Sergey Zaitsev, head of the "Russian Amber" holding. Inspired by the concept of "Jurassic Park," he decided to create a unique space uniting the theme of the ancient "sun stone" with Earth's prehistoric inhabitants. Remarkably, the first phase of the project was completed in record time — just two and a half months during the summer of 2018.

The grand opening took place on August 18, 2018, in the village of Otradnoye. Despite heavy rain on the day of the ceremony, the event was a grand success, supported by local authorities and student participants. The project was designed for phased development: following the first dinosaur figures, the park added the amber pyramid, the amber tree, and other interactive objects, making it a key destination on the map of Russia.

The park's centerpiece — a massive bear sculpture — holds special historical value. It was carved from the trunk of an ancient oak tree estimated to be 850 years old. This tree was toppled by a storm in the late 1990s in what was formerly Georgenswalde. The sculpture serves as a reminder that bears inhabited these forests until the late 19th century and symbolizes the park's deep connection to the region's natural heritage.

Time Needed

To fully explore all zones of the Amber Period Park, we recommend setting aside 2 to 4 hours for your visit. This is enough time to stroll along the forest paths, take photos with the dinosaurs, and watch the volcano "erupt."

If you plan to tackle the rope park, enjoy the trampolines, or have a meal at the cafe, your visit could easily last half a day. Families with young children should plan for about 3 hours of active recreation to ensure the little ones have time for the petting zoo and the play area without feeling rushed.
