In the heart of the city stands a building with a futuristic silhouette that instantly catches the eye. The Gomel State Circus is more than just a performance arena; it is a true symbol of the city of Gomel, recognizable for its unique shape resembling a giant flying saucer. Built in 1972, it became a striking example of Soviet modernism and remains one of the most popular attractions Belarus is proud of today.

The main feature of the complex is its bowl-shaped amphitheater under a sloping spherical dome, which can accommodate up to 1,856 spectators. Before entering, guests are greeted by a charming square with a dynamic fountain and a touching monument to the famous clown Karandash (Mikhail Rumyantsev) and his faithful companion, the Scottish Terrier Klyaksa. This spot on Savieckaja Street has long been a favorite meeting point and photo location.
As a permanent circus, it leads a busy life: the performance season here lasts from September to May. During this time, five or six different programs cycle through the ring, attracting both locals and tourists from across the country and abroad.
