Services and Amenities in the Terminal
Passengers flying from Vaskovo Airport should take into account its specifics: it is a small regional airfield oriented towards local air lines. Here you will not find the Duty Free shops or spa salons typical of international hubs. The airport infrastructure is ascetic but functional and covers all the basic needs of travellers before a short flight.
Dining and Shops
Gastronomic possibilities in the terminal are limited, but you are not in danger of going hungry. A buffet operates in the waiting hall, which resembles a cosy home-style café. Here you can order hot tea or coffee, buy fresh pastries, sandwiches, and chocolate. There are no full-fledged restaurants with a hot kitchen in the sterile area.
Retail points are represented by small kiosks:
- Souvenirs: Here you can purchase products from the Arkhangelsk Algae Plant (marmalade, cosmetics, kelp chips), magnets with views of Solovki, and folk craft items.
- Press and Travel Goods: A press kiosk sells magazines, crosswords, and necessities.
Connectivity and Electronics
Public Wi-Fi is available within the terminal (authorization by phone number is required), however, the connection speed may be unstable. Passengers are recommended to rely on mobile internet: coverage of major operators in the airport area is strong.
There are few specialised stands with charging stations (as in large airports), but there is a sufficient number of free power sockets in the waiting hall for charging phones and laptops.
Financial Services
ATMs of major Russian banks (most often Sberbank and VTB) are installed in the terminal building. Currency exchange points are absent.
Tip for Tourists: If you are flying to remote villages in the Mezen or Leshukonsky districts, as well as to Solovki, it is strongly recommended to withdraw cash in advance at the airport. ATMs may not work at the destinations, and payment terminals in shops often depend on connection quality.
Comfort and VIP Services
For passengers who value privacy, Vaskovo provides a Superior Comfort Hall (sometimes referred to as the VIP hall). The service is provided for an additional fee. Guests are offered:
- Soft furniture and a separate relaxation area;
- TV and fresh press;
- Hot drinks and treats;
- Priority passage of pre-flight formalities and delivery to the aircraft board by a separate minibus.
There are no specialised business centres or conference halls in the terminal, however, the superior comfort hall can be used for short negotiations in silence.
Passengers with Children
The airport strives to support family tourists. A Mother and Child Room is equipped in the terminal. This is a clean and warm room where you can change a baby, feed them, or simply let the child rest in a calm environment before the flight. Access to the room is free (after a short medical check-up at the health post).
Medical Assistance and Accessible Environment
A health post operates around the clock on the ground floor of the terminal, where qualified personnel are ready to provide first aid or consult on health matters before the flight.
For passengers with disabilities, an assistance service operates:
- The building is equipped with ramps and staff call buttons.
- Since there are no jet bridges, airport staff assist passengers with reduced mobility when boarding the aircraft (special lifting mechanisms or manual assistance are used, depending on the type of aircraft).
- It is recommended to notify the airline about the need for assistance 48 hours before departure.
Accommodation
There is no own hotel directly inside the terminal. Passengers with a long layover have the following options:
- Dormitory Hotel in Vaskovo settlement: Located within walking distance from the terminal (about 5–10 minutes). This is a budget option with basic conditions, suitable for an overnight stay before an early flight.
- Hotels in Arkhangelsk: Since the journey to the city takes only 20–30 minutes by taxi, most tourists prefer to stay in comfortable hotels in the regional centre and arrive at the airport directly for check-in.
