The museum building itself deserves special attention. It is a unique architectural structure built in the Egyptian style according to the project of the talented Krasnoyarsk architect Leonid Aleksandrovich Chernyshyov. The building is a striking example of the Historicism style and is considered one of the most complete and expressive Egyptian-themed stylizations in Russian architecture. Its monumental and mysterious appearance immediately sets the stage for a journey into the past.
The history of the museum began in the late 19th century when it was founded as the Krasnoyarsk City Public Museum. Construction of the current building, specifically designed for museum collections, began in 1914. However, due to the events of World War I and the Civil War, the process was delayed, and the work was only fully completed by the end of the 1920s. The museum moved into its new walls in 1930, where it continues its important mission to this day, introducing visitors to the multifaceted history and culture of Yenisei Siberia.
