Packing Tips

For a winter trip to Chernihiv (from December to February), be sure to pack a warm down jacket, a wool sweater, and high-quality thermal underwear. Temperatures often drop below freezing, and snow depth can reach 42 cm, so insulated waterproof footwear and warm accessories (hat, scarf, gloves) are the essentials of your wardrobe. Given the possibility of strong winds, a hooded jacket will be extremely useful.

Your summer suitcase should be as light as possible: pack T-shirts, shorts, and comfortable sneakers for long walks. Since heavy rains are possible in June and July, don't forget a compact umbrella or raincoat. In the shoulder seasons (April-May and September-October), it's best to follow the layering principle: a combination of a windbreaker, jeans, and a sweater will help you feel comfortable in changeable weather when daytime warmth quickly gives way to evening coolness.

Regardless of the time of year, flat, comfortable shoes are a must for walking around Chernihiv's historical sites. During the summer months, we also recommend bringing sunglasses and sunscreen, and in autumn, waterproof shoes, so that the whims of the weather don't interfere with your plans.
