The waterfall is located at an impressive depth—more than 340 meters below the earth's surface. It is found at the end of the main passage of the eponymous cave, in a large vertical shaft carved out of the limestone over millions of years by groundwater. The journey to this hidden treasure is an adventure in itself. At the base of the waterfall, a small pool of crystal-clear water has formed, adding even more magic to the place.
One of the unique features of the cave is its constant cool temperature, which stays at around 10°C throughout the year. Visiting Ruby Falls is a unique opportunity to see the impressive power of nature hidden from view on the surface and to touch a geological history spanning millions of years.
