History & Facts

The history of Perfect North Slopes began in 1980, when the Perfect family decided to turn part of their 200-acre farm in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, into a winter vacation destination. Interestingly, Clyde and Ella Mae Perfect secured the initial funding for this ambitious project by selling their cattle. At the very start of its journey, the resort was quite modest: it featured just two handle tows and one rope tow on two main ski runs, as well as two rope tows on the bunny slope. It was a humble but enthusiastic beginning for what would become a popular getaway near Cincinnati.

Over time, Perfect North Slopes has grown and developed actively. By 1984, the first chairlift was installed, replacing one of the rope tows, and just a year later, in 1985, a second one appeared. The year 1987 was a milestone, as the installation of a third chairlift allowed for new horizons for skiers: one intermediate ("blue") run and two difficult "black diamond" runs for experienced athletes. Subsequent years were also marked by infrastructure expansion, including the addition of two more chairlifts; the fifth one provided access to four brand-new ski runs, significantly increasing the variety of descents.

Perfect North Slopes does not stop there and continues to improve to delight its visitors. In 2022, a new half-mile run appeared on the east side of the slopes, named Ella Mae Way in honor of one of the founders, Ella Mae Perfect. In 2023, the old Red lift was replaced with a modern Skytrac quad chairlift, and a convenient RFID system for ski passes was introduced. For the 2024-25 season, one of the freestyle parks was rebuilt and relocated, a beginner park was created beneath it, and the snowmaking system was supplemented with new powerful snow guns capable of pumping up to 15,000 gallons of water per minute. These constant improvements demonstrate the resort's commitment to providing the best service and unforgettable experiences for winter sports enthusiasts in the USA.

Time Needed

When planning a visit to the Perfect North Slopes ski resort, keep in mind that it may take anywhere from a few hours to a full day to fully explore its features and enjoy the winter activities. The exact time will depend on your interests, skill level, and which specific activities you choose.

If your goal is to have fun snow tubing, you can safely set aside 2-3 hours for this exciting activity. This time is usually enough to fully enjoy the descents on the specially equipped runs. For those coming for skiing or snowboarding, the duration of the stay can vary. Beginners might spend a few hours on the bunny slopes or with an instructor. Experienced riders wanting to try various runs, including the freestyle parks, will likely want to dedicate half a day or even the whole day to it.

Don't forget to also account for time for changing clothes, potential equipment rentals, rest breaks, and a hot drink at the café. Overall, Perfect North Slopes offers enough activities to fill both a short visit of a few hours and a busy day of winter adventures for the whole family or a group of friends.
