In winter, the center offers 21 trails spread across 30 acres. There is something for everyone here, from beginners (with about 41% of slopes dedicated to them) to experienced skiers. Despite a modest vertical drop of 35 meters, a modern snowmaking system guarantees excellent coverage throughout the season. For the convenience of guests, 6 lifts are in operation, including chairlifts and special "magic carpets" for the little ones.

When the snow melts, Mountain Top transforms into the Adventure Center. The area fills with enthusiasts of mountain biking, hiking, and volleyball. Thanks to its friendly atmosphere and high level of service, this place has become a true magnet for tourists who appreciate quality outdoor leisure at any time of year.

What to Do

The winter season at the center is primarily focused on downhill skiing and snowboarding. You can hone your skills on 21 trails, and if you are just starting out, professional instructors and a safe learning zone are at your disposal. A special treat is night skiing, which lasts until 9:00 PM, when the slopes are illuminated by lights, creating a truly magical atmosphere. For trick enthusiasts, there is a dedicated 6-acre terrain park.

In addition to traditional skiing, you can have a great time sledding and ice skating or taking a snowshoe hike. After activities in the crisp air, stop by Leinenkugel’s Mountain Top Lodge — a cozy spot where you can warm up with hot drinks and recharge while discussing the day's highlights.

In summer, the center turns into a real playground for adventure. Visitors will find trails for hiking and mountain biking, beach volleyball courts, and unique disc golf. It is the perfect time for team games and family picnics, allowing you to enjoy the beauty of Wisconsin's nature in motion.

Getting There

Getting to the center is quite simple by following the address 7036 Grand Geneva Way. If you are coming from Chicago, the drive from O'Hare International Airport (ORD) will take about an hour via I-94 W. Travelers from Milwaukee will need approximately an hour and a half via I-43 S. For those who prefer public transport, there are bus services from Chicago to the town of Lake Geneva, from where you can reach the resort by taxi.

For guests staying at the Grand Geneva Resort or Timber Ridge Lodge, there is a special perk — a free resort trolley that runs directly to the ski slopes. The center also features spacious parking for personal vehicles.

During the summer and winter seasons, group transfers are often organized; however, for maximum freedom of movement around the picturesque Wisconsin countryside, experienced travelers recommend renting a car.

History & Facts

The history of this location began in 1968, when the famous Lake Geneva Playboy Club-Hotel opened its doors here. The project included not only a ski chalet but also a fitness center and two golf courses. Interestingly, the seven main buildings of the complex were erected in just one year in the signature "Prairie School" style of legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright, turning the resort into a symbol of the luxury and glamour of that era.

After the Playboy Club closed in 1982, the property changed hands and names several times until the Marcus Corporation acquired it in 1993. The new owners invested more than $30 million in a massive renovation, transforming the fading landmark into the modern Grand Geneva resort with updated slopes, a spa, and a water park.

Today, The Mountain Top Ski & Adventure Center harmoniously combines historical heritage with innovation. Curiously, some staff members have been working here since the "Bunny era," carefully preserving the traditions of hospitality. The resort has evolved from an exclusive private club into one of the most popular destinations for family vacations in the region.

Time Needed

To fully enjoy the skiing and the resort's atmosphere, a typical visitor should set aside 3 to 6 hours. This is plenty of time to try out the main trails, have a snack at the lodge, and appreciate the views of the snowy Wisconsin hills.

If you are visiting with family or planning to take lessons from an instructor, it is better to plan for a full day (about 4–8 hours). This will allow you to learn the basics of skiing without rushing, visit the terrain park, or have fun on the sledding hills. During the summer, 2–4 hours is usually enough for active recreation at the Adventure Center.

Working Hours

The center's operating schedule typically depends on the season. During the winter season, the resort's doors are open on Monday, Friday, and Saturday from 09:00 AM to 09:00 PM, and on Sunday until 08:00 PM. Please note that in the middle of the week (Tuesday–Thursday), the complex may be closed to visitors.

Currently, the center may be temporarily closed or operating on a modified summer schedule. Before your trip, we strongly recommend checking the current working hours on the official website, as they may change depending on weather conditions and the season.
