Syracuse Railway Station, also known as the William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center, is the city's main transport gateway. It is a modern intermodal hub that combines Amtrak rail services and intercity bus transportation under one roof, providing convenient transfers for travellers across New York State and beyond. The complex is located north of the city centre, in close proximity to the popular Destiny USA shopping mall and the regional market.

It is important for passengers to know that the station is a spacious single-storey building with clear navigation. The Main Entrance leads to a general waiting hall, where ticket counters for both trains and bus operators (Greyhound, Trailways, Megabus) are located. Access to the railway platform is via an overhead walkway (concourse) equipped with lifts and escalators, so please allow sufficient time to move from the waiting hall to the train.

Walking from downtown Syracuse is not recommended as the distance is significant and the route passes through highway interchanges. However, from the Destiny USA shopping complex, you can walk via a specially equipped pedestrian bridge in approximately 10–15 minutes.

Within the Syracuse station, passengers are provided with a basic set of services for a comfortable wait before their journey. The history of the current William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center began in the late 1990s. It was built to replace the old and outdated railway station in order to consolidate disparate transport flows into a single hub. The opening took place in 1999, marking an important stage in the modernisation of the city's infrastructure.

Named after a former Mayor of Syracuse and Congressman, the station played a key role in improving regional connectivity. The creation of a unified centre simplified transfers between Empire Service and Lake Shore Limited trains and intercity buses, making travel across upstate New York more logical and comfortable.
