You can have a great weekend not only in Moscow but also in its surroundings. There are many attractions here, so you definitely won't get bored. Plus, you can have a wonderful time with family or friends if you're tired of the views of Red Square and the Kremlin.

Film City Piligrim Porto

A real medieval city just a 15-minute walk from Zelenograd. Here you can have a picnic with friends in the BBQ zone or stay in one of the tents for a more secluded getaway. If you're planning a vacation with children, you can hire an animator or organize a whole quest with actors.

In principle, the entire territory is divided into 40 unique buildings, each with its own individual history. For example, in the center stands a frigate, surrounded by three taverns: "Tryum" (The Hold), "U Kat" (At Kat's), and "Taverna Silvera" (Silver's Tavern). And during a walk, you can find the governor's house or sit in a cafe. 

In fact, Film City Piligrim Porto is a set that remained after the filming of "The Expeditor's Notes of the Secret Chancellery." The main task was to imitate the views of Vyborg in the 18th century, which was perfectly achieved.

Ethnographic Park-Museum "Ethnomir"

"Ethnomir" can be called a state within a state. It's a secluded corner beyond the MKAD with its own way of life and culture. The organizers offer visitors a chance to see how different peoples live, personally get acquainted with the secrets of crafts, and try national dishes from various countries. And for those who don't want to part with the atmosphere of a particular country, there are themed hotels right on the park's territory.

Among the places visitors can travel to in "Ethnomir" without airport queues are India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Siberia, and the Far East. You can even immerse yourself in the past thanks to the "Podvorye" complex, built according to all traditions of Russian architecture.

By the way, a bus regularly runs from Molodyozhnaya metro station to "Ethnomir." As part of the excursion, you can attend master classes or participate in local interactive activities. For the youngest, there's an alley with dinosaurs in a dense forest or a walk in the "Magic Land" park, designed based on "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz."

Eco-farm "Russian Alpacas"

Alpacas are soft and fluffy, and children love them! That's why "Russian Alpacas" is a win-win option for where to go in Moscow Oblast with family.

On the farm's territory, there are alpacas (with funny photos on the website and a description of each one), as well as a llama, a camel, a sheep, a goat, and even a Scottish cow! You can feed them all, take photos with each, and listen to the unique story of the animals' appearance.

Interestingly, there's glamping nearby. It's something like camping, but with internet and all the conditions for a comfortable stay. However, you need to book it very, very far in advance, as many people want to live near these fluffy friends. That's why spots sell out like hotcakes.

Abramtsevo Museum-Reserve

If you want to have a cultural holiday and get to know the sights of Moscow Oblast better, we recommend visiting the Abramtsevo Museum-Reserve. It is located near Sergiev Posad, a city of the Golden Ring of Russia. In the past, the museum was a center of Russian culture in the 18th century.

You've probably heard the name somewhere before. Most likely, in literature or art history classes. And for good reason, as famous personalities of their time often visited here: Turgenev, Gogol, Vrubel, Vasnetsov, Repin… The list goes on. 

It was within the walls of the Aksakov estate that "Notes of a Rifle Hunter of Orenburg Governorate," "Family Chronicle," and the familiar "The Scarlet Flower" were created. And now, visitors can stroll through the grounds and even look inside to see the interiors of past centuries with their own eyes.

Air Club "Vozdushny Strannik" (Air Wanderer)

Perhaps the most exciting thing you can see in Moscow Oblast is to see it from a bird's-eye view. The price is steep: 8,000 rubles per person. However, we don't add a touch of extreme to our gray weekdays every weekend, do we? Moreover, for some, a hot air balloon flight is a long-held childhood dream, while others simply want to please their significant other. How wonderful that thanks to the "Vozdushny Strannik" air club, you can make all your dreams come true.

Prioksko-Terrasny Nature Reserve

When choosing where to go for a weekend , you expect to see everything. Everything but bison. Fortunately, amazing things are nearby. So, those who want to immerse themselves in wild nature and find themselves among the contemporaries of saber-toothed tigers only need to turn slightly off the Simferopol Highway. Voila! You're there.

In addition to ungulates, the Prioksko-Terrasny Nature Reserve is home to about 140 bird species, 60 mammal species, and five reptile species. However, not only animals can surprise visitors. There is an ecological trail "Through the Foliage" on the territory. It is high up, eight meters above the ground, and indeed passes through the foliage of trees. Or the "Tree-House" rope park, where you can go with children or test your strength independently.

Malevich Park

Malevich Park in Moscow Oblast is suitable not only for art lovers and those who want to look behind the famous painting but also for those far from art.

To enter the territory, you must pass through the "Black Square." This is one of the famous art objects that has captured the hearts of beautiful photo enthusiasts. It is a sawn cube with a mirrored surface. Thanks to the visual effect, the reflection is duplicated several times, creating a corridor.

If you're worried that you'll quickly walk through the entire park, we hasten to reassure you: the main route stretches for as much as 10 km, and the cycling route is 2.5 km. The walking path goes into the forest, where everything is equipped for active recreation: volleyball, tennis, and even two heated football fields.

Art Space "Guslitsa"

Just 80 km from the MKAD along Yegoryevskoye Highway — and voila! You are in the "Guslitsa" art space. Everything here is imbued with creativity — from creative exhibits to the staff, who are volunteers and truly love art.

"Guslitsa" is a true center of creativity and simply an interesting place in Moscow Oblast worth visiting to broaden your horizons. An unusual perspective on quite ordinary things attracts musicians and artists. As part of an excursion, you can go backstage and see the creative process with your own eyes. And for those who wish to stay longer, a guesthouse will even be offered.

Sand Dunes

Oh, off-road and quad bike enthusiasts are crazy about this place. Besides contemplating landscapes with craters, travelers come here to swim in clear lakes or relax on the beach. And for many, the sand dunes in Sychevo are a cool location for a "Dune"-style photoshoot. Which type of dune visitor would you classify yourself as?

Horse Park "Rus"

Visiting the "Rus" Horse Park on the weekend is a great way to give your children new emotions. Moreover, taking photos and going for a walk is completely free. And when you don't have to pay, it's always pleasant. 

In general, the park's history goes way back. Several centuries ago, Count Orlov-Chesmensky's stables were located on this very spot. It was in his stalls that the Orlov Trotter breed was developed, which is popular throughout Russia. For example, a monument to such a horse named Ulov is considered a landmark of Yekaterinburg. 

Nowadays, you can ride horses and take beautiful pictures here. For everyone who wants to spend their weekend here: the "Orlovsky" hotel is nearby — a large country house with beaches and an inflatable water park on its territory.

Serednikovo Estate

If you crave variety and a break from the hustle and bustle, we recommend attending a ball at the Serednikovo Estate. Once, Lermontov visited this place and was inspired by its picturesque views. And now, anyone can relax here. 

Annually, a costumed party based on Shakespeare's play "A Midsummer Night's Dream" is held on the estate's territory. All you need is an entrance ticket and a good mood. For those who prefer something calmer, a "Lermontov's Holidays" promenade ball is organized with traditional 19th-century costumes and dances. In short, for atmosphere, you definitely need to come here.

Biserovo Lake

In summer, Biserovo Lake is extremely popular among Muscovites. They come here to have a picnic or go fishing. Both activities are free (except on weekends: then you'll have to pay 100 rubles for entry to the beach area), which makes this place even more attractive. There are several recreation centers and hotel complexes with a bathhouse, sauna, and billiard table on the territory.

By the way, the place has a rather romantic history. It is believed that during a walk, Catherine the Great dropped a bead ornament here. The lost item was not found, but the name stuck.

Losiny Ostrov National Park

The name speaks for itself: moose really live in "Losiny Ostrov," and you can even see them with your own eyes! The park is divided into three zones, one of which visitors are not allowed into, while the other two can be freely walked, used for sports, and even for picnics (but only in designated areas).

There are eight ecological centers operating on the park's territory, which organize holidays (such as New Year and Maslenitsa) and excursions. The most popular include "Belaya Tropa" (White Trail) and "Losinaya Biostantsiya" (Moose Biostation).

Art Estate "Veretyevo"

The "Veretyevo" Art Estate is located on the territory of a former pioneer camp. In the 2000s, artists settled here and held their biennials. Now, people come here for leisurely strolls with family and even with their four-legged pets. Activities offered include a bathhouse, a picnic with shashlik, boat trips, and even bonfires. In short, everything to help you make the most of your weekend.

Moscow Children's Railway in Kratovo

Despite the name, the railway is real and actually transports people of all ages between stations. By the way, it is built according to all adult traditions: you need to buy a ticket on Kupi.com, and there is service in the carriages. 

However, the main actors are teenagers. They study at a special school, and passenger transportation is a kind of practice of the learned material. This railway operates five days a week, and the cost is no more than 120 rubles.
