Proper baggage preparation ensures a smooth start to your journey. Air Moldova strives to make the flight comfortable for all passengers by offering transparent rules for transporting belongings. We recommend carefully reviewing the allowances indicated on your ticket, as they may vary depending on the chosen fare and class of service.
Cabin Baggage refers to items you take with you into the cabin. Economy class passengers are typically allowed one piece weighing up to 8 kg with maximum dimensions of 50x40x25 cm. These dimensions must include wheels, handles, and side pockets. In addition to the main cabin bag, you are permitted to carry a small personal item, such as a lady's handbag, a laptop briefcase, or an umbrella. Parents travelling with small children may transport a collapsible stroller to the aircraft steps free of charge.
Checked Baggage is transported in the cargo hold. The Piece Concept applies here. The standard allowance for most fares is 23 kg per piece, with the sum of the suitcase's three dimensions (length + width + height) not exceeding 158 cm. It is important to remember that "Basic" fare groups may not include free baggage allowance, and it will need to be paid for separately. The maximum allowable weight for a single piece of baggage, even with an additional payment, cannot exceed 32 kg due to occupational health and safety rules for baggage handlers.
If your items exceed standard weight or size limits, excess baggage fees apply. The cost depends on the flight destination and the type of excess (overweight or oversized). We strongly recommend paying for additional baggage in advance via the website or mobile app, as rates at the airport before departure will be significantly higher.
For transporting special items, such as sports equipment (skis, snowboards, golf clubs) or musical instruments, prior approval is required. Inform the airline about such baggage when booking your ticket or no later than 24 hours before departure. Small musical instruments can be transported in the cabin if a separate passenger seat is purchased for them.
For safety reasons, there is a list of prohibited items. In cabin baggage, you cannot carry sharp or cutting objects, or liquids in containers exceeding 100 ml (except for baby food and medicines). In checked baggage, it is strictly forbidden to leave lithium batteries, portable chargers (Power Banks), and electronic cigarettes — these items must be kept in cabin baggage only. Explosive, toxic, and flammable substances are completely prohibited for transport.
A few tips for efficient packing will help avoid unnecessary hassle:
- Weigh your suitcases at home to avoid surprises at the check-in counter.
- Remove all old tags and barcode stickers from previous trips.
- Place a note with your name and contact details inside the suitcase in case the external tag comes off.
- Use a bright ribbon or cover to quickly identify your luggage on the carousel.
- Always keep valuables, documents, money, and vital medicines in your cabin baggage.
