Cabin Baggage Rules
Estelar Latinoamerica (ER) strives to ensure the comfort and safety of all passengers on board. Depending on the fare and class of service, allowances may vary slightly, so it is always worth checking the information on your ticket before departure.
Typically, passengers are allowed to take one piece of hand luggage into the cabin. The standard weight is usually limited to 8 kg for Economy Class, although this limit may be increased on long-haul international flights. The dimensions of the bag must not exceed sizes that allow it to be placed in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you (usually 55x40x20 cm).
In addition to the main bag, you are allowed to take personal items into the cabin:
- A lady's handbag or men's briefcase;
- A laptop in a case;
- An umbrella or walking stick;
- A bag with Duty Free items;
- Baby food and a carrycot for travel with an infant.
Checked Baggage
Free baggage allowances vary depending on the route and booking class. The airline adheres to the standard Piece Concept on most routes.
Key guidelines for travelers:
- Economy Class: Usually includes one piece of baggage weighing up to 23 kg.
- Business Class: Often allows for two pieces of baggage weighing up to 23 kg each or one piece with increased weight (up to 32 kg).
- Infants (without a seat): Generally entitled to one piece of baggage weighing up to 10 kg and one collapsible stroller.
The sum of the three dimensions of each suitcase (length + width + height) must not exceed 158 cm. If your suitcase is larger or heavier than the allowance, an additional fee will apply.
Excess Baggage
If your items exceed the established limits for weight, quantity, or dimensions, the airline charges an additional fee. Rates depend on the flight destination. It is recommended to pay for extra baggage in advance via the official website or call center, as payment at the airport before departure, for example, in Dubai, is often significantly more expensive.
Special Baggage
Special rules apply to the transport of non-standard items:
Sports Equipment: Bicycles, golf, surfing, or diving equipment are transported for a separate fee if they do not fit within the free baggage allowance. Equipment must be securely packed in protective cases. You must notify the airline about the transport of bulky equipment no later than 48 hours before departure.
Musical Instruments: Small instruments (e.g., a violin) can be taken into the cabin instead of hand luggage if they fit the dimensions. For larger instruments (cello, guitar), you may need to purchase a separate ticket for a seat in the cabin ("CBBG") or check them in as baggage in a hard case.
Prohibited and Restricted Items
For safety reasons, there are strict restrictions on baggage contents:
- Prohibited in Hand Luggage: Sharp and cutting objects (scissors, knives), liquids in containers exceeding 100 ml, toy weapons.
- Prohibited in Checked Baggage: Lithium batteries and power banks (these can be carried only in hand luggage), electronic cigarettes, matches, and lighters.
- Strictly Prohibited Everywhere: Explosives, flammable liquids, toxic and radioactive substances.
Packing Tips
To ensure your journey with Estelar Latinoamerica goes smoothly, follow these recommendations:
- Weigh at home: Use household scales to ensure your suitcase does not exceed the 23 kg limit.
- Labeling: Attach a tag with your name, phone number, and email, and also place a sheet with contact details inside the suitcase.
- Valuables: Never check in money, documents, jewelry, or important medication—always keep them with you.
- Protection: Using a suitcase cover or wrapping film will protect your luggage from scratches and accidental zipper opening.
