Weather conditions are strongly influenced by the proximity of the ocean and a cold current, ensuring there is no extreme heat typical of the tropics, and the air remains dry and comfortable almost all year round.

There is no distinct rainy season in this region: rainfall is an extremely rare and insignificant phenomenon, even in the wettest months. The warmest period lasts from January to April, when daytime temperatures rise to +25…+28°C. From June to September, a cooler season arrives with averages around +18…+21°C, making the weather refreshing and pleasant.

Travellers can expect remarkable climate stability. For most of the year, the sun shines here, and the sky remains clear. Thanks to the absence of high humidity and exhausting heat, Namibe is perfect for travel in any month, although a light jacket may be useful for evening walks during the winter period (July-August).

The climate in Namibe is shaped by the influence of the cool ocean current and the proximity of the desert, creating unique and quite comfortable conditions for travellers. The warmest period here falls at the beginning of the year and mid-spring: from February to April, the average daytime temperature holds at +27–28 °C. During this time, there is a mild warmth that rarely turns into the exhausting heat typical of other regions on the continent.

The "winter" months, which in the Southern Hemisphere fall on June, July, and August, bring noticeable freshness. During this period, especially in August, thermometers drop to the annual minimum, showing an average of +18–20 °C. Such weather is ideal for active tourism and excursions, as the air remains dry and the sun is not as intense as in the summer season.

It is also worth considering daily temperature fluctuations, which are especially noticeable in the cool season. For example, in June and July, the difference between the daytime maximum and the nighttime minimum can reach 7–8 degrees: after a comfortable +23 °C during the day, the air can cool down to +16 °C at night. Therefore, when setting off on a trip, it is recommended to take a light windbreaker or sweater for evening walks along the ocean.

The climate in the city of Namibe is characterized by exceptional aridity, which is typical for desert coastal regions. Precipitation here is an extremely rare and scarce phenomenon, so travellers are unlikely to have to adjust their plans due to bad weather. Throughout the year, rains are practically absent, and snow never falls in this region of Angola.

The conditional season of possible precipitation falls on the period from November to April, however, even at this time, the amount of moisture is minimal. The "wettest" months can be called February and March, when about 1 mm of precipitation falls. During this period, 1 to 3 days with precipitation per month are recorded, but most often this manifests not as a full-blown downpour, but as a short-term drizzle or dense fog coming from the ocean.

From May to October, a period of absolute dryness begins in Namibe. In these months, the probability of rain is reduced to zero: statistics show 0 mm of precipitation and a complete absence of rainy days. This is the ideal time for those who prefer guaranteed clear weather, although an umbrella will hardly be needed here at any other time of the year either.

When preparing for a trip to Namibe, it is worth remembering that an arid desert climate prevails here, softened by the proximity of the ocean. Since rain in this region is an extremely rare phenomenon, you will definitely not need an umbrella or raincoat. For the warm months (from October to May), light summer clothing made from natural breathable fabrics, such as cotton or linen, is ideal. Be sure to bring a wide-brimmed hat and high-quality sunglasses to protect against the bright sun.

If your trip falls during the period from June to September, be prepared for cooler weather. During the day, the temperature is comfortable for walking (around +20°C), but in the evenings and at night, the air can cool down to +15...+16°C. At this time of year, it is better to use the layering principle: bring jeans, long-sleeved t-shirts, and, most importantly, a windbreaker or light jacket. A fresh wind often blows from the ocean, so a warm item will be indispensable during evening promenades.

As for footwear, give preference to comfortable sandals for beach relaxation and closed sneakers or moccasins for excursions around the city and surroundings. Despite the fact that the heat here is tolerated more easily thanks to the dry air, sunscreen with a high protection factor (SPF 30-50) is a mandatory item on your list. Also, do not forget swimming gear if you plan to relax on the Atlantic coast.
