Imagine a place where caring for nature has turned into a true life mission. The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital is the world's first specialized clinic for the treatment and rehabilitation of these charming marsupials. Located in the picturesque town of Port Macquarie, the center has become a true symbol of ecological responsibility in Australia.

Founded back in 1973 as a small local initiative, today the hospital is a leading research and rehabilitation center. Every year, more than 100,000 tourists come here to see how veterinarians and volunteers help sick and injured animals return to life in the wild. This is not just a zoo, but a real hospital, where every koala has its own name and recovery story.
Important Note: As of early 2026, the main hospital building is closed for a major renovation. However, the work hasn't stopped for a single minute! All residents and educational programs have temporarily moved to the modern Wild Koala Visitor Centre in Guulabaa. Here, visitors can learn about a unique wild koala breeding program and even see the first "joeys" born as part of the project.
