Natal, located in sunny Brazil, is characterised by a typical tropical climate. The city enjoys warm weather all year round, with average monthly temperatures fluctuating within a very narrow range – from 25.3°C in July to 27.3°C in February. Minimum night-time temperatures rarely drop below 23°C, while daytime highs remain steady between 28-30°C, creating practically ideal conditions for a beach holiday at any time of the year.

Despite the temperature stability, two main periods can be distinguished in Natal, differing in rainfall and the number of rainy days. The wetter period usually lasts from December to July. During these months, the number of rainy days ranges from 20 to 27 per month, however, the total rainfall remains relatively low (3-7 mm per month), indicating frequent but, as a rule, short-lived and not too intense showers. From August to November comes the drier season: rainfall drops to 1-2 mm per month, and the number of rainy days decreases to 14-15, offering more consecutive sunny days.

Thus, the weather in Natal is generally very predictable and favourable for tourism. Travellers should expect consistently warm, summery weather. Light rains are possible throughout the year, but they are usually brief and do not spoil the holiday, especially during the period from August to November, which is considered the driest and sunniest, providing excellent opportunities for enjoying beaches and outdoor activities.

Natal, situated in tropical Brazil, delights with warm weather year-round, with minimal fluctuations in average temperatures. The annual range of average temperatures here is very narrow: from 25.3°C in July, considered the "coolest" month, to 27.3°C in February, the peak of the heat. Maximum daytime temperatures in the hottest months, such as January, February, November, and December, hold steady around 29.6°C, while minimum night-time temperatures in the coolest period, for instance in August, drop on average to 23.0°C.

Essentially, in Natal, there is no sharp change of seasons in the conventional sense. The period from November to March can be characterised as the hottest, when average daytime temperatures reach nearly 30°C, and nights remain very warm, with temperatures rarely falling below 24.5°C. This creates a sensation of constantly warm, tropical weather. Even during the so-called "winter" months, from June to August, the weather remains very comfortable: average daytime temperatures hover around 27.5°C - 28.2°C, and night-time temperatures around 23°C - 23.7°C. The difference between day and night temperatures throughout the year is small, usually amounting to about 4-5 degrees, which ensures a pleasant and even temperature throughout the day.

In Natal, a certain seasonality is observed in the distribution of precipitation throughout the year, although the total amount remains relatively low. Snow is uncharacteristic for this tropical region, so all precipitation falls as rain. A wetter period and a relatively dry season can be distinguished.

The wettest months in Natal are March and April. In March, about 7 mm of precipitation falls on average, and the number of rainy days reaches 27. April follows with 6 mm of precipitation and also approximately 27 rainy days. Although the total amount of precipitation is small, rains occur frequently in these months. January, February, and May are also characterised by a high frequency of rains (22-24 rainy days), but with a slightly smaller volume of precipitation (4-5 mm).

The period with the least amount of precipitation falls on August and September. During these months, only about 1 mm of precipitation falls, with approximately 15 rainy days counted. October and November are also considered dry, with 2 mm of precipitation and 15 and 14 rainy days respectively. Thus, even in the so-called "dry season", the probability of short-term rains remains, they simply become less frequent and less intense compared to the peak of the wet season.

When planning a trip to Natal, be prepared for warm and sunny weather practically all year round. The average air temperature fluctuates in a comfortable range of 25-29°C, so the basis of your wardrobe should consist of light and breathable items. Cotton or linen T-shirts, shorts, skirts, and sundresses will be the ideal choice. Do not forget swimwear, as the beaches of Natal are one of its main attractions. It is also extremely important to take sunscreen with high SPF, quality sunglasses, and headwear (a hat or cap) for reliable protection from the active Brazilian sun.

Despite the predominantly sunny weather, there are periods in Natal with frequent, albeit usually short, rains, especially from January to July, when the number of rainy days increases. A light waterproof jacket or a compact umbrella will help maintain comfort during such precipitation. For walking around the city and surroundings, choose comfortable footwear: sandals for the beach and light trainers or espadrilles for longer hikes. In the evening, especially by the ocean where it can be breezy, or in air-conditioned rooms, a light jumper, cardigan, or shawl will come in handy.
