General Weather Overview

The climate in Sao Benedito is distinguished by enviable stability and comfortable warmth, characteristic of the tropical regions of this part of Brazil. The concept of cold is practically non-existent here: the average annual temperature fluctuates smoothly in the range from +24°C to +27°C. This creates favourable conditions for visiting the city all year round, as travellers will not have to face either extreme heat or piercing winds.

In the city's weather calendar, two main seasons are clearly distinguished, depending on the amount of rainfall. The first half of the year, especially from January to April, is characterised by the rainy season. In March, the number of rainy days reaches its peak, so tourists planning a trip at this time should definitely bring an umbrella or raincoat. However, by May, the intensity of precipitation decreases noticeably.

The second half of the year, starting from July through November, brings dry and sunny weather. The period from August to October is the driest — rain becomes a rare phenomenon at this time. October and November are traditionally considered the warmest months, when daytime temperatures can rise above +32°C, but thanks to fresh nights (around +20°C), the heat is tolerated quite easily.

Temperature

The climate in the city of Sao Benedito features enviable stability and comfortable warmth throughout the year, without extreme cold. The hottest month is usually October, when the average temperature reaches 26.7°C, and the daily maximum can rise to 32.5°C. The "coolest" period in terms of average indicators falls on April and June (about 24.4°C); however, even at this time, the weather remains summery warm.

The summer season, which in the Southern Hemisphere lasts from December to February, is characterised by temperatures ranging from 21°C at night to 31°C during the day. The winter months (June, July, August) are mild and pleasant here: during the day the air warms up to 28-30°C, but the nights become noticeably fresher. It is in August that the lowest night temperatures of the year are recorded, dropping to the 19.8°C mark, which brings welcome coolness.

It is worth noting the perceptible daily temperature fluctuations, especially in the dry season (August-October). The difference between the daily maximum and the nightly minimum can exceed 10 degrees. For example, a hot August day with temperatures above 30°C gives way to a rather cool night. Travellers are advised to keep light outerwear with them for evening walks, despite the generally hot weather in the region.

Precipitation

The nature of precipitation in Sao Benedito has a pronounced seasonality, which is typical for this region. During the year, one can observe a sharp contrast between the wet period and the time of drought. Since the city is located in a warm climatic zone, precipitation falls exclusively in the form of rain, and snow is not found here.

The rainy season usually begins in January and lasts until May. The wettest month in terms of precipitation frequency is March, when about 28 rainy days are recorded. During this period, as well as in February and April, tourists should be prepared for frequent rainfall, so having a raincoat or umbrella will be very useful.

With the arrival of June, the situation changes radically: the number of wet days decreases sharply. The driest period falls on August, September, and October, when rains are practically completely absent (on average 0–1 rainy day per month). This time is ideal for those who prefer clear weather and plan to spend a lot of time in the open air.

What to Pack

When preparing for a trip to Sao Benedito, it is worth orienting yourself towards the warm tropical climate characteristic of this region. The basis of your wardrobe should consist of light items made from natural fabrics, such as cotton or linen, which will allow the body to breathe at daytime temperatures of around +25°C...+27°C. Be sure to bring comfortable footwear for long walks, as well as sunglasses, headwear, and high SPF cream, as the sun here can be very active, especially in the dry season from August to November.

When packing your suitcase, it is important to consider the seasonality of rainfall. If your trip is planned for the period from January to May, be sure to pack an umbrella or a high-quality raincoat, as rains occur quite frequently during these months. Despite the stable warmth, evenings can be refreshing when the thermometer drops to +20°C. Therefore, we recommend using the layering principle: a light windbreaker, cardigan, or sweatshirt will not take up much space but will add comfort during evening promenades or on cloudy days.
