Arrival time at the airport. Paphos International Airport is a popular destination, especially during the high tourist season (from May to October). To avoid rushing, we recommend arriving at the airport at least 2.5–3 hours before your international flight departure. This will give you enough time to complete all formalities, even if there are queues at check-in counters and security control.
Check-in and Security Control. To save time, use online check-in if your airline offers this option. This will allow you to head straight to bag drop or, if you are travelling light, to the security checkpoint. Be prepared for standard procedures: you will need to remove all metal items from your pockets, as well as take laptops and liquids out of your hand luggage into a separate tray.
Seat Selection. If you have the opportunity to select a seat during check-in, consider your preferences. Aisle seats are convenient for those who wish to move freely during the flight, while window seats offer beautiful views. When departing from Paphos, especially during the daytime, window seats on the left side of the aircraft often offer a magnificent view of the island's coastline.
Hand Luggage: What is Allowed. Remember the rules for carrying liquids in hand luggage: they must all be in containers of no more than 100 ml and packed in a single transparent resealable bag with a capacity of no more than 1 litre. It is prohibited to carry sharp objects, weapons, and flammable substances in the cabin. It is always useful to check your airline's rules before the trip, as there may be additional restrictions on the weight and size of hand luggage.
Transit Passengers. Paphos Airport mainly serves direct flights and is not a major transit hub. If you do have a transfer planned, carefully follow the "Transit" or "Connecting flights" signs. Depending on your next destination, you may need to undergo additional security screening.
Customs and Passport Control. When entering Cyprus from a non-EU country, you will need to pass passport control. If you have goods to declare, proceed through the "Red Channel". If there are no such goods, your path is through the "Green Channel". Upon departure, the procedure is standard: document check at passport control after security screening.
How to Save Time and Money. Besides online check-in, an empty water bottle can help save money; it can be filled at drinking fountains after passing security. Prices for food and drinks at the airport can be high, so a light snack can be brought along. Compare prices in Duty-Free shops — they are not always the most advantageous, but there are often good offers on fragrances and luxury goods.
If the Flight is Delayed. In case of a flight delay or cancellation, first monitor the information on the departure boards and listen to announcements. Then contact your airline's counter for information and instructions. Since you are departing from an EU airport, your rights are protected by EU Regulation 261/2004. Depending on the length of the delay, you may be provided with refreshments, meals, and in case of a long wait, hotel accommodation.
