In the town of Levi, 43 diverse slopes await guests, with a total length that allows everyone — from beginners to professionals — to find a run to their liking. A special feature of the resort is the country's only gondola lift and slopes certified for world-class competitions. Thanks to a powerful artificial snowmaking system, the ski season here lasts incredibly long — from mid-November until the beginning of June.

Besides the steep slopes and professional snow parks, the resort is famous for its tourist village. Hotels, cozy apartments, restaurants, and shops are concentrated here within a compact area, creating ideal conditions for a comfortable holiday without the need for long commutes. This is a place where the wild nature of the North meets first-class European service.

What to Do

Skiing and snowboarding remain the main draw for visitors. You can test yourself on the FIS black slopes, where professionals train, or enjoy a leisurely descent on the blue runs. For fans of night skiing, many slopes are illuminated by powerful floodlights, allowing you to stay on the mountain until late evening while admiring the lights of the village.

Families with children will appreciate the specialized recreation areas, such as Kids Land and Leevilandia. These areas offer safe conditions for first steps on skis, with animators on hand and impressive ice labyrinths built annually. If you want a change of pace, a modern water park, bowling, and numerous restaurants serving venison and fresh northern fish are at your service.

Off the slopes, the adventure continues: you should definitely try a snowmobile safari or go on a traditional dog or reindeer sled ride. For those seeking something more exotic, ice karting and ice fishing are available, and you can round off an action-packed day in an authentic Finnish smoke sauna with the obligatory dip in an ice hole.

Getting There

The nearest airport to the resort is located in Kittilä (KTT), just 20 kilometers away. Regular flights operate here from Helsinki and other European cities. From the terminal, you can reach the resort by the regular Kittilä–Levi bus, a transfer shuttle, or a taxi; the journey takes about 30 minutes.

If you prefer traveling by train, you can take a rail service to the Kolari or Rovaniemi stations and then transfer to a bus heading to the resort center. The entire journey from the Finnish capital this way takes between 12 and 15 hours, offering scenic views of northern nature along the route.

For those traveling by car, the main route follows the E75 highway. It is approximately 170 kilometers from Rovaniemi to the resort, a drive of about 2.5 hours. Convenient parking zones are provided near the lifts, which are usually free for visitors during the winter period.

History & Facts

The story of how the small Lapland village of Sirkka transformed into the country's largest sports center began several decades ago. Today, Levi Ski Resort is a recognized leader in winter recreation in the region, while still maintaining the charm of the northern wilderness.

A major milestone in its development was the construction of the country's only gondola lift, which instantly elevated the resort's status to the level of Alpine winter centers. This technological solution allowed for the efficient handling of thousands of tourists, minimizing queues even during peak season dates.

International recognition came to the resort thanks to hosting stages of the Alpine Ski World Cup. Specially prepared black slopes, certified by the FIS, host the world's sporting elite every year, which drives constant modernization of infrastructure and snowmaking systems.

The uniqueness of the place lies in its skillful combination of modern technology and Lapland traditions. Despite its reputation as the "Las Vegas of Lapland" for its vibrant nightlife, the resort remains a place that respects nature, integrating reindeer farms and snowmobile safaris into the overall holiday ecosystem.

Time Needed

To simply get a feel for the atmosphere and head to the summit once, 4–6 hours will be enough. However, Levi Ski Resort is not a place to visit in a hurry, as there is a huge variety of activities here that go far beyond standard skiing.

The best option for active tourists is a 3–4 day trip, which allows you to try out different types of slopes and go on a safari. If you are planning a full winter vacation including visits to the water park, reindeer farms, and spa relaxation, it is better to set aside a whole week for the trip.

Working Hours

The resort's administrative services and sales offices operate daily, providing guests with necessary support throughout the daylight hours. In standard mode, the main services are available according to the following schedule:

  • Monday — Sunday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

It is worth noting that during the height of the season, the lifts on the slopes may operate on an extended schedule — usually from 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM, so that holidaymakers can enjoy evening skiing on the illuminated runs.
