Gibraltar Airport, officially known as North Front Airport, is one of the most unique and impressive airports in the world. Its main feature is that the runway intersects the city's busiest street — Winston Churchill Avenue, which leads to the land border with Spain. Every takeoff and landing turns into a true spectacle, for which road traffic completely stops. Located just 500 metres from the city centre, the airport offers travellers incredible views of the famous Rock of Gibraltar right from the aircraft window.

Despite its modest size, Gibraltar Airport plays a key role in the region's transport connectivity. Its runway is partially built on land reclaimed from the sea and extends into the Bay of Algeciras. Due to its unique design and location next to the rock and the sea, it is considered one of the most challenging airports for pilots in Europe. In March 2023, a tunnel was opened under the eastern end of the runway to reduce congestion on Winston Churchill Avenue, although pedestrians can still cross the runway when it is clear. The airport primarily serves flights to the UK, operated by airlines such as easyJet, British Airways, and Eastern Airways.
