At the heart of the park stands the magnificent Rotunda of Glory, housing the musical Fountain of Victors, which has become a favorite meeting spot for locals. Extending from the rotunda through the greenery is the Alley of Friendship, linking various memorial objects into a single architectural ensemble. The park harmoniously combines its role as a place of remembrance with a well-kept area for peaceful relaxation.

The park is given special significance by its monuments: a large-scale memorial to internationalist soldiers and a tribute to the liquidators of the Chernobyl disaster. It is a place where history comes alive in stone and bronze, offering visitors a chance to pay their respects and enjoy the quiet of the shaded walkways.

What to Do

The best way to start exploring the park is with a stroll along the Alley of Friendship, which leads to the central part of the complex. Visitors can examine the architectural memorial ensemble dedicated to internationalist soldiers and see the unique photo mural at the monument to the Chernobyl liquidators. It is an excellent place for thoughtful contemplation and learning about history.

The Fountain of Victors under the rotunda's dome is particularly impressive. In the evening, when the lights come on and the light show begins, the rotunda becomes the main spot for photoshoots. The park's walking paths are perfect for strolls as well as cycling or riding scooters, making it a popular spot for young people.

During the warmer months, you can see people enjoying picnics on the spacious lawns, and on holidays like Victory Day, the park hosts large-scale cultural events with concerts and parades. The well-maintained grounds, complete with comfortable benches, allow visitors to simply enjoy the fresh air and the beauty of the landscape design in the heart of the city.

Getting There

Reaching Victory Park, located at 26 Lobody St, is quite easy. It is situated in the Kazybek Bi district of the city, with Shakhterov Avenue and the "Orbita" microdistrict serving as the main landmarks for navigation.

Public transport users can take buses and minibuses heading to stops near the Orbita microdistrict. From the stop, it’s just a 5–10 minute walk to the park entrance along well-maintained sidewalks.

For those who prefer more comfort, a taxi ride from the city center will take about 10–15 minutes. If you are traveling by private car, parking spaces are available near the park area. Entry to the park remains free for all visitors.

History & Facts

The history of this commemorative site began in 1990, when the first memorial ensemble dedicated to internationalist soldiers was installed in a small square in the city's southeast. For a long time, the area was known among locals specifically as the Afghan Soldiers' Park.

A major transformation occurred in 2004–2005, when the authorities decided to turn the square into a full-scale Victory Park. The project received support from private investors, and after extensive reconstruction, the park was officially opened on May 9, 2009, marking the 64th anniversary of Victory Day.

Interestingly, the appearance of the park's main stele has changed over time: it was originally topped with the figure of a golden eagle, but this was later replaced with a golden star. Over the years, the park became a place to honor heroes from different eras—in 2014 and 2016, memorial markers and a monument dedicated to the selfless courage of the Chernobyl liquidators were added.

Time Needed

A typical visitor will need about 1.5–2 hours to fully explore Victory Park. This is enough time for a leisurely stroll along the Alley of Friendship, to see all the memorials, and to relax by the fountain inside the central rotunda.

If you plan to visit with family and children or want to have a small picnic on one of the green lawns, it’s worth setting aside up to 3 hours. It is especially pleasant to stay here in the evening when the decorative lighting of the monuments is turned on.

Working Hours

Victory Park welcomes guests around the clock, allowing you to enjoy its atmosphere at any time of day. Access to the grounds is open 24 hours a day, from Monday to Sunday.

An evening visit is particularly recommended when the artistic lighting of the memorials and the fountain is active, turning the park into a truly magical place for a walk.
