History & Facts
The history of the park's main monument began in 1967. The Obelisk of Glory was initiated by veterans themselves, marking the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution. A fascinating fact is that the author of the original "Motherland with Son" monument was an ordinary school teacher, Ivan Fomich Solovyov. He designed and created the monument voluntarily, using materials provided by local enterprises.
In 2005, as part of the preparations for the 60th anniversary of the Great Victory, the memorial underwent a major reconstruction. The original monument was replaced by a majestic bronze figure of a mourning mother. The sculpture, standing 3.7 meters tall and weighing about 3.5 tons, was created by the talented master Adilet Zhumabayev.
Today, the central part of the park includes not only the sculptural composition but also the Eternal Flame and solemn marble plaques. The names of 304 local residents who showed heroism during years of trial are engraved on them in gold letters. This place is steeped in deep respect for history and individual lives.
Time Needed
Usually, 1–2 hours is enough for a leisurely introduction to the park and its memorial section. This time is quite sufficient to walk through all the alleys, carefully examine the Obelisk of Glory, and take commemorative photos.
If you plan to have a short rest on a bench by the fountain or simply enjoy the silence in the shade of the trees, you can set aside a bit more time. The park is conducive to contemplative relaxation, so there is no need to rush here.
Working Hours
One of the pleasant features of this place is its accessibility. The park is open to visitors 24/7, with no days off or breaks. You can come here early in the morning to enjoy the coolness, or late in the evening when the lights come on.
Despite the open hours, it is recommended to check official city resources before visiting on public holidays, as official ceremonies and rallies may be held in the park.
