The museum's name, which translates to "Seed," reflects its main mission: to sow the seeds of curiosity and inspiration in the minds of the younger generation. Unlike traditional museums, there are no strict "do not touch" signs here. On the contrary, every exhibit is designed to be interacted with—turned, pushed, and solved—helping visitors understand how the world around them works.

Located in a modern building in the city center, the museum invites guests to immerse themselves in an atmosphere of discovery. Its high rating among travelers confirms that Museo Semilla successfully maintains a perfect balance between entertainment and quality educational content, making it a must-see for anyone traveling with children.

What to Do

At Museo Semilla, a world awaits where everyone can feel like a real scientist. The main activity here is interactive experiments. You can study the behavior of water, create airflows, understand the principles of mechanics, and even test various optical illusions on yourself. This is a place where complex scientific theories become clear thanks to hands-on models.

For young explorers, there are special zones where they can build with construction sets, solve puzzles, and participate in educational games that develop logic. One of the most interesting features of the museum is the halls dedicated to biology and ecology, where multimedia installations and models showcase the region's natural wealth and the importance of environmental conservation.

Don't miss the chance to take part in group activities or themed workshops often organized by the museum. Creativity is encouraged here, so don't forget to bring your camera—the bright, futuristic design of the halls and your own scientific triumphs will make excellent backdrops for photos. It’s the perfect place to spend time productively, combining fun and learning in a single visit.

Getting There

Museo Semilla is conveniently located in the city center at Priv. Progreso 1201, in the San Pedro district. If you are already in the historic center of Chihuahua, the walk from the main square or the Cathedral will take no more than 15–20 minutes, as the distance is about 1–2 kilometers.

For those who prefer public transport, any bus heading to Zona Centro will work. After getting off at the stop, it’s just a short walk toward Progreso Street. You can also always use taxis or popular ride-hailing services—the trip from other parts of the city will be quick and comfortable.

If your journey starts from Chihuahua Airport (CUU), the drive by car or taxi to the museum will take approximately 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic. There are parking zones near the museum in the city center, which is convenient for travelers with rental cars.

History & Facts

Museo Semilla is a modern educational project that has become an important milestone in the city's cultural life. Its name, which translates from Spanish as "Seed," carries deep symbolism. The museum's creators envisioned that curiosity sparked at an early age is like a seed that eventually grows into a passion for knowledge and scientific discovery.

The museum building is located in an area where the city's history meets modernity. The museum was conceived as a space that breaks stereotypes about "boring" exhibits behind glass. Since its opening, it has become a major center of attraction for school groups and families from all over the state, implementing advanced interactive learning methods.

Over the years, the museum has earned a high reputation among locals and tourists for its approach to popularizing science. The facility is constantly updated to keep pace with technological progress while remaining cozy and accessible for even the youngest visitors. Every exhibit here is the result of work by educators and scientists striving to make complex concepts simple.

Time Needed

To fully enjoy all the interactive zones and try every experiment at your own pace, we recommend setting aside 2 to 3 hours for your visit. This time is usually enough for children to play to their heart's content and for adults to explore the information stands.

If you plan to participate in special workshops or themed events frequently held at the center, you should add an extra 40–60 minutes to your schedule. Keep in mind that there may be more visitors on weekends, so your stay might be slightly longer due to the popularity of certain exhibits.

Working Hours

Please note that Museo Semilla operates on a special schedule and is closed during the first half of the week. From Monday to Thursday inclusive, the museum does not accept visitors, dedicating this time to updating exhibits and working with pre-booked groups.

The museum doors are open to the public from Friday to Sunday:

  • Friday: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM;
  • Saturday and Sunday: 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
It is recommended to arrive a couple of hours before closing to have enough time to see all the halls.
