The restaurant's name translates to "Cold and Fire", perfectly describing its menu: here, the icy freshness of classic ceviche is masterfully combined with the heat of grilled dishes. The entire complex is an elegant platform with panoramic views, its own swimming pool, and a bar, reachable by special boats.

Specializing in the bounty of the Amazon, Al Frio y Al Fuego uses only local ingredients — from rare species of river fish to exotic fruits from the rainforest. It's not just a meal, but a whole adventure that begins with a river trip and ends with relaxing in a sun lounger to the sounds of the tropical forest.

What to Do

The main reason to visit Al Frio y Al Fuego is to explore the region's gastronomy. Be sure to try the donchela fish ceviche or the traditional "piqueo regional" assortment to appreciate the full variety of local delicacies. For those with special dietary needs, vegetarian and gluten-free menus are available.

In addition to tasting the dishes, you can enjoy a full siesta-style break here. Guests are free to use the swimming pool located right in the middle of the floating platform. Swimming with views of the endless river expanses is especially impressive at sunset when the sky is painted in incredible shades and highlights of the setting sun appear on the water.

Keep a close eye on the water: from the restaurant's deck, you can often spot the famous pink Amazon dolphins swimming quite close. As darkness falls, the restaurant turns into one of Iquitos' most romantic spots, where you can enjoy tropical cocktails under the starry Amazonian sky.

Getting There

Since Al Frio y Al Fuego is located right on the surface of the Itaya River, it can only be reached by water. Your journey will begin in the city of Iquitos, at a special guest pickup point located at: Av. La Marina №134 B.

This point on the waterfront is easily reached by taxi or the traditional local "motocar" (motorcycle taxi) from any part of the city center. If you are staying near the embankment, a walk to the pier will allow you to soak up the atmosphere of the port city in advance.

The restaurant provides a free motorboat transfer from the pier. The short but scenic river ride takes only a few minutes and serves as a wonderful appetizer to the main visit, allowing you to see the city and jungle from a unique perspective.

History & Facts

The creation of Al Frio y Al Fuego was a true breakthrough for the region's tourism infrastructure. It was the first and remains the only high-end floating restaurant in Iquitos, proving that world-class service is possible in the heart of the Amazon. Initially conceived as a leisure spot for locals, its unique concept quickly made it a legend among international travelers.

The establishment owes its resonant name, which translates as "Cold and Fire", to its philosophy of contrasts. It symbolizes the harmony between cold appetizers, such as refreshing ceviche, and hot dishes cooked over an open grill fire. This juxtaposition of flavors became the foundation of the restaurant's gastronomic identity.

Over the years, the restaurant has earned numerous awards, including the prestigious Travelers' Choice award from TripAdvisor. Today, it is not just a place to eat, but an important cultural symbol demonstrating how the traditional cuisine of Peru can be integrated into a modern and eco-friendly format on a floating platform.

Time Needed

To fully enjoy your visit to this unique place, we recommend allowing at least 2–3 hours. This time is enough for the leisurely boat transfer, a full lunch or dinner, and a short break by the pool with a cocktail in hand.

If you plan to watch the sunset here and spend time in a relaxed setting while enjoying the Amazon panorama, it is better to set aside 3–4 hours. The evening atmosphere on the river invites long contemplation, so it is definitely not a place to rush.
