To ensure your journey through Gazipasa Airport goes as smoothly and comfortably as possible, take advantage of our tips. This small but modern airport serves the resort region of Alanya and has its own specific features; knowing them will save you time and reduce stress.
Arrival Time and Check-in. Gazipasa Airport, especially during the high tourist season (May to October), can be quite busy. We recommend arriving 2.5-3 hours before an international flight and 2 hours before a domestic one. This allows enough time to complete all procedures without rushing. If possible, complete online check-in for your flight in advance — this will save you time at the airport if you are travelling with hand luggage only.
Seat Selection on the Plane. During online check-in, pay attention to seat selection. Want to take beautiful photos of the coast? Choose a window seat (A or F) to enjoy panoramic views during take-off and landing. If comfort and the ability to stand up freely are important to you, an aisle seat is better. For those in a hurry, seats in the front of the cabin are ideal as they allow you to disembark faster upon arrival.
Security Control and Hand Luggage. Security rules here are standard. Liquids (creams, perfumes, drinks) can only be carried in hand luggage in containers up to 100 ml, packed in a single transparent bag. Electronic devices, such as laptops and tablets, must be removed from bags for separate scanning. Ensure power banks are in your hand luggage, not in checked baggage. Always check your airline's hand luggage allowance, as they may differ in weight and dimensions.
Customs Control and Tax Free. Upon arrival in Turkey, follow the "Green Channel" if you have no goods to declare. When departing, if you have made purchases and wish to claim a tax refund (Tax Free), approach the customs desk before checking in for your flight and handing over luggage. The officer may ask to see the purchased goods, after which they will stamp your receipts. The refund point is located in the secure zone after passport control.
Saving Time and Money. It is better to book a transfer from the airport to your hotel online in advance — this is almost always cheaper than taking a taxi on the spot. To avoid overpaying for drinks, bring an empty reusable bottle and fill it with water from drinking fountains after passing security. Prices for food and souvenirs at the airport are higher than in the city, so it is best to make major purchases beforehand.
Connecting Passengers. Gazipasa is primarily a destination airport, not a transit hub. If you have a connecting flight in another city (e.g., Istanbul), allow sufficient time between flights (at least 2-3 hours), as you will likely need to collect luggage and go through check-in and security again.
If the Flight is Delayed. In case of a flight delay, contact your airline representative. Depending on the length of the wait, you may be provided with drinks, meals, or even hotel accommodation. Keep the airline's contact details and your travel insurance number handy, as insurance often covers such cases. The airport itself has several cafes and a waiting area where you can pass the time.
