Free Public Transport Abroad
How to get around abroad is always a tricky question. Some simply buy a day pass and spare no expense, while others prefer to walk to avoid spending extra money on “it’s only a ten-minute walk!”. But in some cities, public transport is completely free. In this article, we'll tell you about them.
Manchester
In Manchester, there's so much beauty to behold, but there are also interesting places outside the city. To easily reach suburban stations, use the free Metroshuttle bus. It runs on two routes:
And in another British city, Rotherham, there are free FreeBee buses. They depart from Rotherham Interchange and run from 8 AM to 6 PM every day except Sunday.
Melbourne
In the Australian city, you can ride the CBD tram for free in the city center within the City Circle loop. So, pay close attention to the stops. As soon as the tram leaves the loop, a fare is charged.

This is not an ordinary tram, but a historical one, and it even looks the part. It runs near the main attractions of the city center. You definitely won't miss the Princess Theatre, the Old Treasury Building, and the Parliament House. So if you see such a tram, be sure to hop on!
Mons
Belgium is not just Brussels and Bruges. The city of Mons is small but full of museums and libraries, and it also hosts tennis tournaments. Although this city can be explored on foot, it's also fun to ride public transport. Especially if you put on your favorite music and lean your forehead against the window. To do all this, look for Mons Intra Muros bus stops.
Akureyri
Getting around Iceland without personal transport can be challenging. But there's a solution, at least in the city – hop on a free bus! On weekdays, you can ride it from 6:25 AM to 11:03 PM, and on weekends and holidays from 12:16 PM to 6:03 PM.

Geneva
In this expensive Swiss city, free public transport is a balm for the soul. There are two ways to get this balm:
- In Zone 10 of Geneva Airport, take a ticket from a special machine that allows you to travel for free for 80 minutes. This is enough to get from the airport to the city. The ticket even includes a water taxi!
- At the hotel reception, you can ask for an individual travel pass, the Geneva Transport Card. It is issued based on your passport details and is valid for the entire duration of your stay in the country.
Kuala Lumpur
In this city, you constantly need to look around because there's so much to see. But it's easier to do this on the free GO KL City Bus. This bus is also convenient for business people as it passes through the central business district. They run every 5 minutes from 6 AM to 11 PM.
Livigno
Love skiing? In the Italian town of Livigno, there's a popular ski resort. Everything is perfect there, even the four bus lines that transport tourists completely free of charge! When you're carrying skis, you won't find a better option.
Miami
The glamorous and expensive American palm city also offers free travel. There are 2 options to see the city from a vehicle window for free: Metromover and the trolley.

Metromover — these are self-driving trains covering Downtown Miami, Brickell, Park West, and Omni districts. The cars run from 5 AM, and you can easily transfer from them to the paid metro. If paid transport is not for you, then switch to trolleys.
