Aero Dili flights and airline information

About

Aero Dili (8G) is a dynamically developing private airline, granted the prestigious status of the national carrier of Timor-Leste (East Timor). Based in the capital city of Dili, the company carries out a vital mission to ensure the transport accessibility of this island nation. Currently, the airline is an independent player and is not a member of major global aviation alliances.

A key feature of the carrier is its unique role in developing national aviation: Aero Dili became the first company in the country to receive an air operator certificate for regular domestic flights. The airline is actively expanding its presence on the international stage, connecting Timor-Leste with major economic hubs in Southeast Asia and Australia under the motto "BUILD THE NATION".

Despite its young age, the carrier is demonstrating impressive passenger traffic growth rates. Baggage

Baggage rules for Aero Dili depend on your chosen fare and flight destination. Since detailed allowance tables are not always openly available on the official website, passengers are strongly advised to check baggage conditions directly on their e-ticket or in the booking management section before departure.

For carry-on baggage, standard requirements usually apply: one item weighing up to 7-10 kg, which must fit comfortably in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you. Regarding checked baggage, allowances for international flights most often start from 20 kg, but the exact weight and number of pieces are determined by the rules of the specific fare.

If your items exceed the established limits, excess baggage is paid for at the airport. The cost of overweight baggage is calculated for each kilogram over the limit. For the carriage of special items, such as musical instruments or sports equipment (e.g., diving or surfing gear), prior notification to the airline may be required.

To ensure aviation security, the carriage of explosive, flammable, toxic, and other dangerous substances is prohibited. We advise packing baggage in durable suitcases and labeling them with contact information to ensure your journey with Aero Dili is as comfortable as possible.

Pet Rules

Pet Transportation

Aero Dili does not publish a detailed public regulation for pet transport, so each case is considered individually through customer support.

  • In-cabin transportation: The possibility of having small pets (cats or dogs) in the cabin is limited and requires a special soft carrier, the dimensions of which allow it to be placed under the seat.
  • Transportation in the baggage compartment: Large animals can be transported in the cargo hold in rigid containers that comply with international IATA standards.
  • Required documents: The passenger is responsible for preparing an international veterinary passport, certificates of current vaccinations, and import permits for the animal required by the laws of the destination country, for example, Australia when flying to Darwin.
  • Cost: Animal transportation is not included in the free baggage allowance and is paid for separately as special cargo.

Given the specific nature of regional flights and climatic conditions, we strongly recommend contacting Aero Dili by phone or email immediately after booking your ticket to receive official confirmation and instructions on preparing your pet for the flight.

Loyalty Program

Passenger Loyalty Program

As of today, Aero Dili does not have an officially presented loyalty program with mile accumulation or status levels. The carrier focuses on providing quality service and ensuring flight regularity.

  • Earning points: At this time, Aero Dili flights do not offer bonus miles for travel.
  • Privileges and statuses: Loyalty levels (such as Silver or Gold) are absent, and all passengers are served according to their chosen booking class.
  • Alliance membership: Since the company is an independent regional carrier, loyalty program privileges from global alliances do not apply to its flights.
  • How to get benefits: We recommend following seasonal promotions and special offers on the airline's official website, which may offer discounts on tickets for certain destinations.

If the airline launches a frequent flyer program in the future, information will appear on official communication channels. Until then, you can use offers from partner booking services to optimize travel costs.

Services

Aero Dili (8G) provides its passengers with a basic set of services appropriate for a regional carrier. The main class of service on board is Economy Class, which offers ergonomic seats providing comfort during medium-duration flights between the region's islands.

Food and beverages are provided depending on the flight duration and specific route. On international flights, such as to Xiamen or Singapore, the service may include light snacks or full meals; however, specific menu details should be clarified directly at the time of booking. Stationary entertainment systems and Wi-Fi on board are currently not mandatory standards for all aircraft in the fleet.

The carrier also pays attention to special services: passengers can request an escort for unaccompanied minors, as well as assistance for people with disabilities. If you require special meals (vegetarian or halal), you must notify Aero Dili customer support at least 48 hours before departure.

Destinations

Aero Dili's flight geography is focused on strengthening transport links between East Timor and key cities in the Asia-Pacific region. The main hub and home base of the carrier is Dili International Airport.

Regular flights are operated to popular destinations such as Denpasar in Indonesia and Darwin in Australia. Furthermore, Aero Dili provides access to major global transport hubs by flying to Kuala Lumpur, which opens up wide opportunities for residents and guests of Timor-Leste for further travel around the world.

Booking Tips

To purchase Aero Dili tickets at the most attractive prices, it is recommended to plan your trip several months before departure. The optimal time for booking is 4-6 weeks before the planned travel date. Tickets can be booked on the carrier's official website as well as through popular online agencies such as Traveloka or tiket.com.

The airline offers an online check-in service, which usually opens 24 hours before the flight. Early registration via the website not only saves you time at the airport but also gives you a better chance of choosing a comfortable seat in the cabin. Please note that selecting specific seats may be paid or free depending on the chosen fare.

When booking, carefully study the fare conditions regarding exchanges and refunds. Aero Dili may have strict rules for the cheapest tickets. We also recommend not neglecting travel insurance, which will protect you in case of an unforeseen flight delay or lost baggage. Using the airline's mobile app will allow you to receive timely notifications about schedule changes.

History

The history of Aero Dili began in 2017–2018 when the private company Aero Dili Transport Services S.A. was founded. The official registration of the carrier took place on June 21, 2018, which became the starting point for creating modern aviation communication in the young state of Timor-Leste. The company's founders set an ambitious task—to connect the country with the outside world through its own efforts.

A landmark milestone was receiving the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the civil aviation authorities. This event made Aero Dili the first airline in the history of Timor-Leste authorized to perform regular domestic flights. Operations started in August 2018 using small aircraft that began flying from the city of Dili to remote regions of the country.

Over time, the carrier expanded its influence, gaining the recognized status of a national airline. This allowed Aero Dili to go beyond domestic routes and launch regional international flights. The first flights to Indonesia and Australia were a crucial stage in the country's integration into the global transport system.

Today, the airline continues its development, operating modern aircraft and opening new destinations, such as Kuala Lumpur. Under the motto "BUILD THE NATION", Aero Dili invests in the development of aviation infrastructure and the training of local personnel, confirming its role as a key player in the economic and tourism future of Timor-Leste.
