Baggage

Baggage rules for Aeroflot depend on the selected fare and class of service. For carry-on baggage, the standard dimensions are 55x40x25 cm. Economy and Comfort class passengers may bring one piece weighing up to 10 kg, while in Business Class the allowance is increased to 15 kg. In addition to the main item, personal belongings such as a backpack, handbag, or umbrella are permitted if they meet safety requirements.

Checked baggage allowances also vary: Economy Class usually includes 1 piece up to 23 kg, Comfort Class — 2 pieces of 23 kg each, and Business Class — 2 pieces of 32 kg each. On certain baggage-free fares, baggage is paid for separately. It is important to remember that the sum of the three dimensions of each piece of baggage must not exceed 203 cm.

Fees apply for excess baggage exceeding weight or quantity limits. Rates depend on the flight direction and the type of excess. We recommend paying for extra baggage in advance on the website or in the mobile app, as this is often cheaper than at the airport check-in desk.

Special rules apply for the transport of special items such as ski equipment, bicycles, or musical instruments. Often during the winter season, the airline offers free transport of one set of sports equipment in addition to the baggage allowance. Strollers and wheelchairs are always carried free of charge in excess of the established allowance.

Dangerous substances are strictly prohibited: explosives, flammable liquids, toxic materials, and compressed gases. There are also restrictions on carrying lithium batteries and liquids in carry-on baggage (no more than 100 ml per container). To preserve the integrity of your belongings, we recommend using protective packaging and removing old baggage tags.

Pet Rules

Traveling with Pets in the Cabin

The airline allows small domestic pets to be carried in the aircraft cabin. The weight of the pet together with the carrier must not exceed 8 kg. A rigid container or a soft carrier bag can be used, provided its dimensions allow it to be placed under the seat in front.

  • Dogs, cats, and birds are accepted for transport.
  • Only one animal can be in one carrier (except for certain cases of transporting litters).
  • The animal must remain inside the carrier for the entire duration of the flight.

Transportation in the Baggage Compartment

If the weight of the animal with its container exceeds 8 kg, transportation is carried out in a specialized heated baggage compartment. The maximum weight of the animal together with the container for this method of transport is usually limited to 50 kg.

  • The container must be made of impact-resistant material and have a secure lock.
  • The size of the cage must allow the animal to stand at full height and turn around.
  • The bottom of the container must be covered with absorbent material.

Required Documents

To travel with a pet, you must prepare a veterinary passport in advance with records of microchipping and valid vaccinations (primarily for rabies). For international flights, additional veterinary certificates are required, complying with the rules of the country of arrival and transit.

Costs and Restrictions

The pet transportation service is paid and is not included in the free baggage allowance. The cost depends on the route and method of transport. There are restrictions on the transport of brachycephalic dog breeds (with flat faces), as they are sensitive to pressure and temperature changes. We recommend notifying the airline of your intention to fly with an animal at least 36 hours before departure, as the number of spaces for animals on the flight is limited.

Loyalty Program

Aeroflot Bonus

The Aeroflot Bonus loyalty program is an opportunity to receive additional privileges and bonuses for every flight taken. Participation in the program is open to everyone and allows for the accumulation of miles, which can later be exchanged for premium services.

Tiers and Privileges

  • Basic: assigned immediately after registration and allows you to start accumulating miles.
  • Silver (Elite): entitles you to priority check-in, an extra piece of baggage, and priority boarding.
  • Gold (Elite Plus): includes access to business lounges, expedited security checks, and increased bonus mile accrual.
  • Platinum: the highest level, offering the services of a personal assistant, guaranteed booking, and the ability to issue awards for loved ones.

Earning and Using Miles

Miles are credited for each flight segment on Aeroflot and partner airline flights. Points can also be earned by using the services of program partners: hotels, car rental services, banks with co-branded cards, and shops. Accumulated miles can be spent on flight tickets, cabin upgrades to Business, or products from the rewards catalog.

Registration for the program is free and available on the official website. After joining, you will receive a member number, which must be provided with every ticket booking.

Services

Aeroflot offers its passengers three main classes of service, each designed to provide maximum comfort. Economy Class includes ergonomic seats, an entertainment system, and full meals on long flights. Comfort Class is available on long-haul routes and features increased legroom, an improved menu, and an expanded travel kit.

The airline's Business Class is a premium level of service, featuring seats that convert into a full bed on most aircraft types. Passengers are offered an exquisite menu from chefs, a wine list, and access to exclusive airport lounges. On board, every traveler is provided with a personal tablet or an integrated media system with a rich library of films and music.

The airline pays special attention to special services. For young travelers, children's kits, bassinets (upon request at the booking stage), and a special menu are provided. Passengers with limited mobility can count on assistance during boarding and disembarking. In addition, on flights lasting more than 3 hours, a choice of special meals is offered: vegetarian, halal, kosher, and other types, which must be ordered in advance.

On many modern aircraft in the fleet, on-board Wi-Fi is available, allowing you to stay connected even at an altitude of 10,000 meters. Data packages can be purchased directly during the flight through the entertainment portal. The combination of traditional hospitality and modern technology makes Aeroflot's service one of the most competitive in the industry.

Destinations

Aeroflot's flight geography covers hundreds of destinations, connecting key economic and tourist centers. The airline's main hub is Moscow, from where dozens of flights within Russia and abroad are operated daily.

Thanks to an extensive route network, travelers can easily reach cities such as Saint Petersburg, Sochi, or Yekaterinburg from the capital. International routes include popular resort destinations such as Antalya, as well as important capitals in the near abroad, including Yerevan.

Booking Tips

To find the most advantageous offers, Aeroflot recommends booking tickets in advance on the official website or through the mobile app. Generally, the lowest fares are available several months before departure. It is also worth paying attention to "baggage-free" fares if you are planning a short trip traveling light.

Online check-in opens 24 hours before departure and allows you to choose your preferred seat in the cabin before arriving at the airport. Early check-in is particularly important if you are traveling with a large group or family and want to sit together. You can also pre-order a high-comfort seat selection (Space+) on the website, which provides more legroom.

Keep an eye out for seasonal promotions and sales on the airline's social media and newsletters. Aeroflot frequently runs large-scale promotions, allowing you to purchase tickets at special rates to popular cities such as Kazan or Kaliningrad. Participation in the loyalty program also offers the opportunity to pay for part of the ticket price with accumulated miles, which significantly reduces total travel costs.

History

The history of Aeroflot began in 1923, with the establishment of the "Dobrolet" voluntary air fleet society. This moment is considered the official starting point of civil aviation in the country. Over the decades of its development, the company has grown from the first wooden planes to the use of the most modern airliners, becoming a symbol of reliability and national prestige.

A key stage in the carrier's life was the formation of a powerful hub in Moscow. For many years, Sheremetyevo Airport became the company's main base, through which all important international and domestic routes passed. During the Soviet period, the airline united all the civil aviation of a vast country under its brand, operating flights even to the most remote corners.

The development of the Aeroflot fleet has always kept pace with technical progress. The airline was the first to operate many domestic jet aircraft and eventually integrated the best examples of world aircraft manufacturing into its fleet. Today, the core of the fleet consists of modern Airbus and Boeing family aircraft, as well as domestic Superjets, ensuring efficient and environmentally friendly transport.

In the modern period, Aeroflot has transformed into a high-tech public company with shares traded on the stock exchange. The airline constantly introduces innovations: from biometric systems at airports to complex revenue management algorithms. Remaining faithful to traditions established more than a century ago, the carrier continues to develop its route network, opening new horizons for millions of travelers.
