Air Premia flights and airline information

About

Air Premia is an ambitious South Korean airline that has brought a fresh perspective to international air travel. Based in the dynamic city of Seoul, the carrier focuses on providing high-quality service at reasonable prices. The company's main operational hub is Incheon International Airport, which serves as the gateway for routes connecting Korea with key global metropolises. Currently, the airline does not belong to any global alliances, preferring to develop as an independent player in the long-haul travel market.

The uniqueness of Air Premia lies in its business model — it is a Hybrid Service Carrier (HSC). The company combines the affordable ticket costs typical of low-cost carriers with the high level of comfort usually offered by traditional full-service airlines. Passengers are given the opportunity to fly on modern wide-body aircraft with an expanded range of services.

One of the main advantages of Air Premia is its fleet of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. These planes are known for their comfortable cabin pressure, large windows, and reduced noise levels, making even the longest flights less tiring. The airline focuses on cabin spaciousness, offering increased legroom even in economy class.

The airline's route network (IATA code: YP) is actively expanding and includes not only domestic flights but also important destinations in the USA, Japan, and Southeast Asian countries. Thanks to its innovative concept, Air Premia has quickly gained popularity among travelers who value the balance between price and service quality on board.

Baggage

Baggage rules at Air Premia (YP) depend on the selected fare type — from the budget-friendly Lite to the more flexible Standard and Flexible options. Since allowances may vary depending on the specific route and class of service, passengers are advised to check the exact details in their itinerary or during the booking process.

Carry-on baggage. Generally, the airline allows one piece of carry-on luggage. The standard weight for hybrid carriers is around 7–10 kg, and dimensions must allow the bag to be placed in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you. A small personal item, such as a handbag or laptop, can also be taken into the cabin. It is forbidden to carry sharp objects, flammable substances, and liquids in containers larger than 100 ml.

Checked baggage. Free baggage allowances vary: some flights may offer 15 kg, while other fares might not include baggage at all. On long-haul routes (e.g., to the USA), conditions are usually more generous. Be sure to clarify the number of permitted pieces and the allowable weight for your specific ticket, as information on aggregators can sometimes be contradictory.

Excess and special baggage. If your baggage exceeds the established norms, an additional fee for overweight will be required. Air Premia also accepts sports equipment (skis, bicycles) and musical instruments for transport, but such services often require prior coordination with support and are paid for separately. Use hard cases for packing fragile items and don't forget to tag your baggage with your contact details.

Pet Rules

In-Cabin Transportation

Air Premia allows small pets to be transported in the aircraft cabin on certain flights. The weight of the pet together with its soft or hard carrier is usually limited, and its dimensions must allow the animal to be placed under the seat in front of you. Cats and small dog breeds are most commonly permitted in the cabin.

Cargo Compartment Transportation

For larger animals, transportation in a heated baggage compartment is available. The container must comply with international IATA standards, be durable, ventilated, and have a secure lock. The passenger must provide the animal with enough water and food for the journey.

Required Documents

  • Valid international veterinary passport.
  • Health certificate and vaccination certificate (rabies vaccination is mandatory).
  • Compliance with the specific requirements of the destination country (microchip, antibody test results).

Restrictions and Fees

Pet transportation is a paid service and is not included in the free baggage allowance. The cost depends on the weight and route. There are restrictions for brachycephalic breeds (pugs, bulldogs, Persian cats) which do not tolerate pressure changes well due to their respiratory structure. Transportation may also be restricted during periods of extreme temperatures (intense heat or cold).

To clarify current rules and book a place for your pet, be sure to contact the airline directly via the call center or email cs@airpremia.com at least 48 hours before departure.

Loyalty Program

Premia Members Program

For its frequent flyers, Air Premia has developed a loyalty program called Premia Members. This is a simple and transparent system that allows travelers to receive additional benefits for every flight taken and enjoy exclusive airline services.

Membership Tiers and Privileges

  • BLUE: The basic level assigned to every member immediately after registration. It allows you to start accumulating points.
  • Higher Tiers (Gold/Silver): Information regarding the requirements for moving to higher statuses and their specific names is usually available within the personal account area. Traditionally, these levels grant rights to priority check-in, extra baggage, and lounge access.

How to Earn and Spend Points

Program members earn points for every paid flight on Air Premia. The number of points awarded depends on the route distance and the selected class of service. Accumulated points can be exchanged for discounts on new tickets, cabin upgrades, or payment for additional services such as extra legroom seat selection.

Participation and Registration

Joining the Premia Members program is completely free. Registration is available on the airline's official website or through the mobile app. Managing your bonus account, viewing transaction history, and booking reward services are handled through a convenient personal dashboard. Since the airline operates independently, earning miles from partners in other alliances is currently not available.

Services

Air Premia positions itself as a hybrid carrier, allowing passengers to enjoy the comfort of wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Depending on the flight type, the company offers several service levels. The main focus is on Economy Class with increased seat pitch, while premium options offering even more personal space and enhanced service are available on long-haul routes.

Onboard amenities include a modern entertainment system. Most aircraft are equipped with individual screens where passengers can choose movies, music, or games. The Dreamliner's cabin design, with its innovative lighting system and large windows, helps passengers adjust more easily to time zone changes. Wi-Fi availability and power outlets for charging gadgets depend on the specific aircraft and route.

Meals on international flights are usually included in the ticket price, with food quality meeting the standards of traditional airlines. Passengers may be offered Korean and international cuisine. For travelers with special dietary needs, Air Premia provides the option to order special meals (vegetarian, child, etc.), but this must be done in advance through the personal account or support service.

The airline also cares for small travelers and passengers with limited mobility. Escort services for minors are available on board, and bassinets may be provided for infants (upon prior request and subject to technical availability). All staff undergo special training to ensure the safety and comfort of every guest during the flight.

Destinations

The flight geography of Air Premia covers key business and tourist centers worldwide, connecting them with its base hub in Seoul. By using modern long-haul aircraft, the company offers convenient non-stop flights across the Pacific Ocean and within the Asian region.

The main focus of the route network is on popular destinations in the USA, such as New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and sunny Honolulu. In Asia, the airline connects the Korean capital with metropolises such as Tokyo, Bangkok, and Hong Kong, and also offers flights to popular resorts, such as Da Nang in Vietnam.

Booking Tips

To make your trip with Air Premia as cost-effective as possible, it is recommended to book tickets in advance, especially for popular long-haul destinations in the USA. The best prices can often be found 2–3 months before departure. Keep an eye out for seasonal promotions and sales on the official website, and subscribe to the newsletter to be the first to know about special offers on new routes.

When booking, pay special attention to the fare types. If you are unsure about your travel dates, it's better to choose a Flexible fare, which minimizes penalties for changes or refunds. If you are traveling light and your plans are firm, the Lite fare will help you save significantly. Be sure to check the included baggage conditions on the final payment screen to avoid unexpected costs at the airport.

Online check-in usually opens 24–48 hours before departure. We strongly recommend completing it in advance via the mobile app or website — this will not only save you time at the airport but also allow you to choose a more comfortable seat. If you value comfort, look into the paid option for selecting Extra Legroom seats, which is especially relevant for ten-hour flights.

Don't forget the Air Premia mobile app. It's convenient for storing boarding passes and tracking flight status. It is also recommended to get travel insurance to cover potential risks related to flight delays or lost luggage. For complex requests, such as transporting special baggage or ordering special meals, contact the support service well in advance.

History

Air Premia is a young and dynamic airline from South Korea, founded in 2017. Its creator was Kim Jong-chul, former president of the well-known carrier Jeju Air. From the very beginning, the goal of the project was to create a "hybrid carrier" format unique to the region, capable of offering the comfort of long-haul flights at prices competitive with low-cost carriers.

The company's headquarters are located in Seoul, with its operational base at Incheon International Airport. A major milestone in the history of Air Premia was the decision to exclusively use modern wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. This allowed the airline to immediately focus on transoceanic routes, providing passengers with high levels of technology and environmental efficiency.

The development of the route network began with the gradual entry into international destinations. The first flights connected Korea with cities in Asia, and then the airline entered the strategically important US market. The launch of flights to Los Angeles and New York confirmed Air Premia's serious intentions to become a significant player in the long-haul segment.

Despite its short history, Air Premia has already established itself as an innovative carrier. The company actively implements digital solutions, develops its own Premia Members loyalty program, and constantly works on expanding its flight geography. Today, the airline continues to pursue its mission — making high-quality international travel accessible to a wide range of passengers.
