Baggage

EVA Air sets clear baggage rules that depend on the selected fare and class of service. In the aircraft cabin, passengers are allowed to carry 1 piece of carry-on baggage weighing up to 7 kg, with dimensions not exceeding 56 × 36 × 23 cm. Additionally, you may bring a small handbag, a laptop case, or a briefcase that must fit under the seat in front of you.

Checked baggage allowances for international flights are typically 23 kg for Economy Class; however, the exact number of pieces and weight depends on the terms of your specific ticket. In premium service classes, such as Business Class, the allowances are significantly higher. If your baggage exceeds the established limits, you will need to pay for the excess weight at the airline's rates at the airport or in advance through the website.

Special categories of baggage, including sports equipment (skis, surfboards) and musical instruments, are transported by prior arrangement. Strollers and car seats are usually carried free of charge in addition to the baggage allowance. It is recommended to securely pack fragile items and check the list of prohibited items, such as flammable liquids and dangerous goods, before departing for the airport.

Pet Rules

Transportation of Animals in the Cabin and Cargo Hold

EVA Air allows travel with pets; however, transportation rules depend on the type of animal and the specific route.

  • In-cabin transport: Only allowed for certain types of small animals and requires prior confirmation from the airline. The weight of the pet together with the carrier is strictly limited.
  • Cargo hold transport: Most pets are transported in a heated cargo compartment in special certified containers. The container must be spacious enough for the animal to stand up and turn around.
  • Required documents: The flight requires an international veterinary passport, vaccination certificates, and a microchip. You must also consider the quarantine regulations of the destination country, such as when flying to Tokyo or Hong Kong.
  • Breed restrictions: EVA Air imposes restrictions on the transport of brachycephalic breeds (dogs and cats with flat faces, such as pugs or Persian cats) during hot months due to health risks.

The cost of the service is calculated individually based on the animal's weight and the size of the crate. To arrange transportation, you must contact the call center at least 48 hours before departure and obtain official permission. It is recommended not to feed the animal immediately before the flight and to place a familiar item in the carrier to reduce stress.

Loyalty Program

Infinity MileageLands Loyalty Program

For frequent flyers, EVA Air has developed a loyalty program called Infinity MileageLands, which allows members to accumulate bonus miles and exchange them for privileges.

  • Membership tiers: The program includes four status levels — Green (basic), Silver, Gold, and Diamond. As the level increases, passengers receive priority check-in, lounge access, and extra baggage allowance.
  • Earning miles: Miles are credited for every flight on EVA Air and partner airlines. Bonus points can also be earned by booking hotels and using the services of partner banks.
  • Using points: Accumulated miles can be spent on award tickets, upgrades from Economy to Business class, as well as on duty-free purchases on board.
  • Registration: You can join the program for free on the airline's official website. Gold level members and above receive special privileges when traveling across the entire partner route network.

Mile expiration dates and redemption terms are subject to change, so members are encouraged to regularly check their account status in the personal cabinet at evaair.com.

Services

As a full-service airline, EVA Air offers several levels of comfort. Passengers can choose the elite Royal Laurel class with fully flat-bed seats, Premium Economy with extra legroom, or standard Economy class. Each class features a modern entertainment system with personal screens where movies, music, and games are available.

On-board dining is a point of pride for the company. Passengers are offered both Asian and Western cuisine, and in premium classes, the menu is complemented by fine wines. For travelers with children, a special kids' menu and creative kits are provided, while bassinets are available for infants upon request. On many flights, especially long-haul ones, paid Wi-Fi is available, allowing you to stay connected even at an altitude of 10,000 meters.

Special attention is paid to passengers with disabilities: the airline provides assistance at the airport and supplies wheelchairs. If you require special meals (vegetarian, kosher, or halal), they must be ordered no later than 24 hours before departure through the booking management section on the website.

Destinations

EVA Air connects Taiwan with the world's major cities, offering travelers a convenient route network across the Pacific Ocean and within the Asian region. The main flow of flights is concentrated at the company's primary hub in Taipei, which serves as a convenient transit point for travel between North America and Southeast Asia.

The route network includes metropolises such as Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, and Bangkok. Long-haul flights connect Taiwan with the West Coast of the USA, with regular service to Los Angeles and San Francisco, as well as with key European capitals.

Booking Tips

To purchase EVA Air tickets at the most favorable prices, it is recommended to start your search several months before the trip, especially if you plan to fly during holiday periods. The airline often holds seasonal sales, information about which appears on the official website and in the newsletter. It is most advantageous to book flights in the middle of the week when ticket demand is lower than on weekends.

Online check-in opens 24 hours before departure. We recommend completing it as early as possible via the EVA AIR mobile app to select the most comfortable seats in the cabin. Please note that some seats (e.g., those with extra legroom) may be available for an additional fee. Also, be sure to review your fare conditions before purchasing, as budget options often have strict restrictions on ticket refunds and exchanges.

Don't forget to take out travel insurance to cover potential flight delays or baggage loss. Using the mobile app not only simplifies storing boarding passes but also allows you to receive prompt notifications about any schedule changes, making your journey with EVA Air as calm and predictable as possible.

History

The history of EVA Air began in 1989, when the company was founded as a division of the Taiwanese transport giant Evergreen Group. From the start, the goal was to create a world-class international airline capable of competing with the region's leading carriers. The company made its first flight in 1991, quickly expanding its flight network from regional destinations to intercontinental routes.

In the 1990s, the airline became a pioneer in creating a Premium Economy class (originally called Evergreen Class), which revolutionized the industry by offering passengers an intermediate option between Economy and Business class. This decision helped the company quickly gain popularity on long-haul flights to the USA and Europe, strengthening EVA Air's position in the global market.

A major milestone in its development was the continuous fleet renewal. From its first Boeing 747 and 767 aircraft, the company moved to operating the most modern and eco-friendly liners, such as the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Today, the airline's fleet includes more than 80 aircraft, ensuring the safety and reliability of travel for millions of passengers annually.

In recent decades, EVA Air has focused heavily on cultural innovation and service quality, as evidenced by numerous awards and expert recognition. Based in Taipei, the company continues to develop sustainability programs and implement digital technologies while maintaining the traditional Asian hospitality that has become its global hallmark.
