Casino Central is more than just a gambling establishment; it is a true architectural gem and one of the main symbols of Mar del Plata. Located on a scenic boulevard, it is an integral part of Argentina's cultural and tourist life. For many travelers, their introduction to the city begins with this monumental complex, the hallmark of "The Happy City" (La Feliz), as Mar del Plata is often called.
Built in 1939 by architect Alejandro Bustillo, the casino building is a striking example of eclectic style with French Neoclassical elements. Its facade, clad in brick and stone, is crowned by an elegant gray slate mansard roof, giving it the appearance of a luxurious European palace. The casino is part of a symmetrical architectural ensemble together with its "twin"—the famous Gran Hotel Provincial. Between these two buildings lies a central plaza leading to the sea, adorned with the famous sea lion sculptures, which have become another symbol of the city.

It remains a symbol of the former glamour and the golden age of Mar del Plata as an aristocratic resort. Besides the gaming halls, the complex includes the renowned "Auditorium Theater - Astor Piazzolla Hall," making it a major cultural hub for both tourists and locals.
