Alternatively, you can consider flying to neighbouring regions if tickets there prove more favourable. The nearest major hub is Proserpine, located approximately one hundred kilometres away, or the town of Moranbah, situated a bit further inland.

Travelling by rail is a scenic way to reach the coast while enjoying the views of Queensland. The city of Mackay is served by the famous Spirit of Queensland train, which runs between Brisbane and Cairns and makes a stop at the station in the Paget area.
